Don't need a farm when you have a Festivus Pole.

OK I'll bite...

I was about 12 years old and my parents were in a bad stretch financially...we ate tomato soup about 5 days a week that winter...anyways...come Christmas we didn't have much cash but the old man took us to pick out a tree...we got like a 5 ft. Tall tree...get home and put it in the stand and half the needles fall off dragging it into the house. You could read the funny papers through that tree it was so sparse.

Go to home depot. Go for the ones still in the netting. Look for a straight trunk, and a limb free base. Buy it unseen. Bring it home and cut the net off, then fluff the limbs.

I am 6 for 6. The trees all look nice. < $60

2 years ago was our first Christmas in our new house so we decide to do the big tree. we go up to Steele's farm up in Angie by Franklinton. we had a good experience so last year we decide to go back. A random Saturday in November I see a post from Steele's on FB that they are open. I did not know that it was randomly bumping an undated post from the year before. We drive an hour all the way up there. We pull up right before the place is supposed to open and there are 3 cars there already so apparently we are not the only ones who think they are open.

We wait a few minutes after advertised opening time then someone finally shows up. She says they will not be open until the following Saturday. I show her the FB post and she takes an attitude with me. ok whatever. she decides to sell us and the other families some trees (reluctantly). We set out to pick out a tree, and do. we waited about 30 minutes for someone to come to cut them and then another 30 forthem to cut the other customers trees because they were there first.

When it is our turn they come over to us they tell us we cannot have the tree because it wasn't tagged. nobody told us that at the beginning that we needed to pick out a tree with a non obvious tag. She says that is a next years tree and "it is what it is". no it's not. see ya!

I'll assume you burned said establishment to the ground, only reasonable response.

Also, trees are trash.

Ten foot ceilings in our house. Head out to get at least a nine foot tree. Dude at the front gate hands me this mini hand saw to cut down such tree. No. Rode back up to front gate and got them to bring a chain saw.

We drove to the one up past Zachary a few years back. Got all the way up there and started looking around... there was nothing but these little mangy arse looking trees.

Ended up going to the Home Depot that's literally 2 miles from the house and getting one there.

Dad was frugal. One year we waited until Christmas Eve to go pick up tree from Lions Club lot. They had quit selling, so we picked up a leftover tree laying on the ground. One side was flat. Worked out well for us, and now I don't even get a tree.

no tree at all?

we have gone with artificial and pre-lit trees the past few years and I love it...safer than real trees from a fire hazard perspective, less time, less mess, prettier, reusable and thus less expensive when amortized over 5-6 years of use. and I would dare say more appealing.
