Dell's Ultrasharp 5K monitor available

Same price as the 5K iMac, except the iMac has a computer inside (main drawback being you can't use the iMac display for anything but the iMac, for now at least). Both use the same LG panel I'm sure.

I'm still mad at Apple for pushing this 5k thing. Works out good for them because brand new $2000 macbook pros will be obsolete-ish when they come out.

Yeah, frick them for making their products better. And how will this desktop make MacBooks obsolete-ish?

because they won't be able to push a 5k external monitor when Apple comes out with one. They can push 4k monitors but not 5k. This is all assuming that Apple with release a new Thunderbolt 3 controller on the next generation of Macbook Pros that will support display port 1.3.

Having "retina display" pixel density will be awesome on the external monitors though. I love that they push for higher standards. I'm not sure there is a real benefit of 5k over 4k for the average consumer who doesn't do 4k video editing. Could cause scaling issues when playing 4k content full screen.
