I'm gonna be a heretic here but play calling is not the problem

I mean, hey, I'm not always a fan of Miles' conservatism, but this year, let's face it, play calling is a function of how bad his QB is. Now, that doesn't mean I'm giving Miles a pass. In fact, that crap is STILL his fault.

I'm merely observing that when your QB has MULTIPLE overthrows in sideline short pass patterns, you quickly realize that letting that same guy throw over the middle is a recipe for disaster.

There is much to wonder WTF regarding Miles and QBs but frankly, I think what we are calling with AJ at QB is the least of the problems.

That Miles has somehow REPEATEDLY found himself in the position of being scared shitless of his QB is the problem.

We scored 0, we don't have ONE problem.

Playcalling doesn't help, but anyone who can't see that we have a major execution problem is a dolt. It's why I can't understand the pass that Cam and the offensive position coaches get. They put a shitty product on the field.

Jennings starts and the offense does the exact same things in the duck dynasty bowl

The QB can't throw? Okay. That doesn't mean to line up in a 2-TE, FB, HB, 1WR set and try and run it up the middle against a 10-man box every play.

Spread it out. Run some zone-read out of the shotgun or the pistol with 3 or 4 WRs.

ADAPT.

that is accurate.

the criticism on miles shouldn't be on a conservative offense set to limit mistakes of his QB's, it should be his recruiting or lack thereof of quality QB's.

he's been stung in the past RP, zach lee, kiel etc but it's definitely a weak point.

it shouldnt be a surprise (though most can't seem to grasp bc of disdain for miles) that the O actually does open up when it has a competent QB (flynn, JR, Mett)

Miles seems to recruit Spread Qb's for a pro-style offense. Thats on miles. The prostyle guys miles has had : flynn, russell and Mett seemed to do well but he seems to not recruit these types of guys.

Who recruits and coaches these inept quarterbacks? Why is it, at a school LSU, we have a hard time getting decent/consistent quarter back play.

Oh. Please don't mistake me for a "blame the players - excuse Miles" guy.

Either Miles is stubbornly refusing to put a better passer in there or, we have two insanely shitty passers. And THAT shite is 100% on him given that apparently, these two were considered better than the two that were run off.

When a coach whiffs on FOUR frickING QBs in 3 years, that's a talent evaluation problem.

When you are forced to play a QB of AJs ability, you are a threat to get blanked every week.

also it's definitely a "what if" game but those three guys (kiel currently, zach lee, RP) would've filled in those gaps of bad offensive years nicely imo.

And, who is to say that Lee or Kiel would've succeeded under Miles?

I mean, frankly, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that we really recruited FOUR completely inept 4 star Passers.

There has to be an preparation and development problem too.

According to recruiting services, Krags led up the effort on Jennings.

Jennings runs slightly better than Peyton Manning.

I heard your statement at the camp this week, a lot, and it is just not an accurate observation. Harris is a bonafide arm talent. The fact that he can run makes him more like Andrew Luck potentially.

Jennings may be a better passer than a read option runner...let that sink in a bit.

I think you'll note that this is actually my gripe. I STILL blame Miles. I'm merely placing the blame where it belongs.

The man is either the worst QB talent evaluator on the planet or, he can't figure out how to develop them worth shite.

Either way, that is STILL on him.

That sunk in to me very early and, yeah, it was depressing.

He ran an option play a couple of weeks ago that looked like someone allowed my wife to play QB for a play. I was like, WTF was that??

that's why it's a "what if game" but you can't call mett, JR, or flynn inept.
