The Grass is Not Always Greener

I'm a Centre-positiger, meaning I'm an LSU fan who is idealistic enough to spin most negative events positively for LSU, but realistic enough that said positivity doesn't prevent me from pointing out when shite just doesn't jibe with winning football.
With that said, Miles can certainly be upgraded, as many nega-tigers have suggested, and that years of seemingly squandered roster of NFL talent could've theoretically been put to better use by a better coaching staff.
However, the "We are a great program who can get a great coach!" mantra isn't a guarantee we'd get an upgrade.
Rather it seems to rarely happen:
Michigan:
-"Fire Lloyd Carr! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Rich Rod! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Brady Hoke! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
Tennessee:
-"Fire Phil Fulmer! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Lane Kiffin! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Derek Dooley! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-(Soon) "Fire Butch Jones! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
Notre Dame:
-"Fire Bob Davie! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Tyrone Willingham! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Charlie Weis! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-(Soon)"Fire Brian Kelly! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
USC:
-"Fire Lane Kiffin! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Ed Ogeron! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Steve Sarkisian! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
Texas:
-"Fire Mack Brown! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Charlie Strong! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
Bama:
-"Fire Ray Perkins! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Gene Stallings! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Mike Dubose! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Dennis Franchione! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
-"Fire Mike Sula! We are a great program who can get a great coach!"
Outside of Bama getting Saban or tOSU getting Urban Meyer, storied coaches to storied programs just don't really fall in your lap. Fans are always disappointed and sometimes wish the old regime was back.
I can see it now. Fans will be calling for Harbaugh/Briles/Gruden/Cowher to replace Miles and end up with Al Golden, Doc Holiday or Mike Riley.

"We could do worse"-- the fear of the complacent.

You forgot about Nebraska who was too good for 9-3 seasons about a decade or so ago.

grass may not be greener, but you sure as shite can improve your lye; i'd much rather play out of the fairway than the rough.
you can do better than the 'all change is bad' argument to defend CLM. not saying i disagree with your conclusion, just think how you got there is wrong. try again.

Look where proactivity got Michigan, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Texas, etc...

Good point .. Hiring a coach is a crap shoot .. Ask Nebraska .. But when does the admin or TAF say enough .. We already know Joe is awful at hiring coaches so this will have to be done both at the same time and the boosters and the chancellor will have to run the process like in 99. does LSU wait Til miles runs the program into the ground ? Bc that won't happen. This will be a gradual slide . This year kinda escalated it just reinforcing the core problem which is lack of QB development and awful offensive play calling .. I think they are some coaches that are almost a guaranteed good hire but not many .. Maybe 3.

You think Texas is going to call for Charlie Strong to be fired? Not for a long time buddy.

Mind if we try just one more time?
If we get another coach who can't do any better; THEN I will settle for battling for fourth in the SEC West. Cool?

So we just stick with it? Continually watch Les run the same exact offense every year and pray that the kids don't take notice? It could be worse. It could also be better. We are a complacent program right now who's isn't going to win a NC with this coach at the helm.

Nope Texas got it right with Charlie.. He is a master disciplinary with over 230 drug screens conducted.. He is also a hell of a recruiter .. I live in Austin and it was a real big dumpster fire when he arrived on the 100 acres .. They are going bowling and that is an accomplishment Bc of what Charlie inherited.

Rich Rod can coach. Was never gonna get the affaleets at Michigan. Tennessee made a good hire but got fked by Lane. Dooley was a train wreck, no doubt. Fulmer had expired his shelf life. Notre Dame has a good coach, but they can be hamstrung with academics and no jucos. Texas is improving. Strong is doing better. Swoopes has really started playing well. They need some recruiting. I don't want inept offense and 9-3 every year. I've seen Jim Donnan here in Georgia.

Ok. Let's just keep throwing on third and long out of max protect run formations with few guys running routes. Because it certainly isn't possible to vary your scheme and approach and ask for just a little bit of imagination and adjustment from a $4.3 million salary head coach and a $1 million-plus per year OC.

Never said "All".
Just said the evidence shows we probably won't get a fan-approved storied coach to replace Miles.
I'm a centre-positiger. I've said Miles can be upgraded. Just reinforced that history shows the grass may not be greener on the other side.

Nobody has any idea who would be interested in coming here til the time comes. And thanks to alleva it will be quite a few more years to even start worrying about it.

One argument that the negatigers don't agree with does have statistics to back it up. They won't let facts get in the way.
