WTF? I'm not talking about commercial businesses or anything b/c that's expected, but a couple on my FB feed have spent today decorating(putting up the tree, stockings, wreaths etc). I know this b/c they posted pics. Someone called them out on it and they said they'd be out of town for a week at Thanksgiving and wanted to just get it done so it's one less thing to worry about.
I personally think it's getting ridiculous. Xmas decorations shouldn't go up until weekend after Thanksgiving or when you get back from out of town.

I was out of town this past week and mother in law came and stayed @ the house. Got home and probably half our Christmas decorations were up. Fine with me, all we have to do is hang stockings and do the tree. We aren't turning on the lights that are around the front door till after Thanksgiving

I like to put mine up on Easter. Get a jump on things. The Lord rises and I rise my tree. Win Win

Pisses me off... Especially because I enjoy Thanksgiving so much. It is a great time to spend with family with much less stress. Once the Thanksgiving threshold is broken it will move on to the Halloween threshold.

Hell no. I don't even put lights up, let alone a tree.

Other shite I can spend money on.

a lot of the Christmas lights/tree thing basically comes from the shorter days leading up to winter solstice

makes things look less dreary in winter

Yes. I went up there and took just about everything down before he got home. He just took down the 12' tree. Which was too heavy and awkward for me.

Used to feel this way, but its really not a big deal. I'm going to have finals the 2 weeks after we get back, so getting it done now makes my life easier.
