This^...I spent so many years of my life letting LSU and the Saints dictate my mood. Yesterday I took my kids to see Southeastern and nonchalantly watched the second half of LSU. Completely fine with that. After the dismal first half today, I spent halftime and the 3rd quarter in the backyard helping my oldest boy perfect his spiral, pitching baseball to my younger boy and helping my baby climb up and slide...all at the same time. I work my arse off and don't want to look back and remember my free time this year spent watching these teams frick around and blow their seasons. That has its place, but it's a distant second...

Same for me. In 2011 part of me died when we lost that game. I was depressed for several days and then eventually news about Payton broke and I eventually didn't give as much as a frick.

Instead of it ruining my day, it just ruins an hour and then I'm over it.

That game was like 2 and a half hours.

NFL is usually fast but college lasts close to four hours.

I am almost__ & was as excited as ever at the start of the season. The last 2 weeks the Saints (and LSU) have put my excitement as low as it's ever been.

How old are you "adults"? And what job do you have that you dont have a couple hours on a weekend 8 times a year to watch a Saints game?

The marshawn lynch run was my last tirade. I've been calm ever since then.

Exactly. I'm in Houston and in busy season working 60+ hours right now. My wife and I haven't missed a game yet

Nfl isn't nearly as good as it used to be. It's a different game ever since roger got in. College and the nba are still enjoyable imo

This. It's funny how you guys "don't care or don't care as much" when you're 4-6. But if you bitches we're 9-1, you'd care a frick ton more, right?

You kids are what I'd like to call... caravan fans. Looks like y'alls caravan is much lighter in 2014. Be critical of the Saints, get pissed off, get frustrated, drink till your face melts or whatever. But to all of a sudden act like you don't care, get the frick outta here.

I've calmed down over the year, I once cried after every loss granted I was about 6 years old. But I still get really emotional like when we let the Lions comeback on us and when we let the 49ers comeback it just doesn't ruin my whole day anymore, but I still care a ton.

I think I've come to realize that it's more fun just to tailgate, eat and drink, and attend games as a fan and DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH.

If you do, you will get burnt. There are just too many variables and unforseen events that can happen that the fan has no control over:

Injuries, weather, horrible calls and non-calls, Alabama refs, 49'ers refs, freak plays, trick plays, turnovers, tipped balls, dropped passes, blown coverages, bad clock management, missed opportunities - coulda woulda shoulda games, not putting a team away, etc.

I still love football, and will watch and go to games forever, but I will go with tempered expectations. It's better for my blood pressure, and my TV screen, and my windows....

One thing I'm thankful for, both my teams have won championships within the last 8 years.

Its is kind of funny seeing a whole bunch of saints fans posting on a saints forum about how little they care about the saints now

In college , I often got depressed after an LSU loss. Basketball or football , it did not matter. I was filled with depression and pity. Maybe it was the 20 something testosterone levels in my body. I took college sports so seriously.

1/09/12 killed me emotionally. I could not sleep properly for a week. I had to talk to myself compassionately and understand that kids playing a game is not worth killing myself over. I try to keep an emotional distance from the outcome of big games that LSU is involved in. LSU has won big. 6 titles in baseball and 2 in modern era in football. If watching those teams win did not provide me with lasting joy and happiness, then winning another title will not do it either. Temporary joy..yes. Everlasting elation...no. I must accept whatever happens because I have no control in the outcome.
