I am heading down to hunt south of Lake Charles this weekend. Has anyone been in the area recently?...if so, are there any ducks down?

I am hoping this cold weather has pushed a few down....

excellent! are they in the marsh or in the rice fields? teal or big ducks?

I am basically trying to figure out equipment to bring to keep from bringing everything that I own...

Don't know where y'all hunt but I'm seeing Gadwall, Pintail, Blue wing, & Green wing teal. Areas from Holly Beach to Big Lake & Pecan Island to south of Holmwood.

Large numbers of big ducks all over Toledo Bend for about 2 weeks, these will be moving south with this front.

Buddy went and checked out the rice field blinds yesterday near Lacassine. Ducks everywhere. Stacked like cordwood. Pintail, mallards, teal, greys.

Some bonus does were messing around nearby too. gonna have bring my rifle in the blind.

It is on this weekend! We have been seeing big ducks around the house. I've been trying to stay away from the blind, but I imagine it is stacked.

well, I just got home from the trip and have to say, there were more ducks and geese north of the intercostal waterway than I have seen in a long time....

unfortunately, we hunted south of the waterway where there were slightly fewer ducks, but still quite a few in the area...most blinds did report seeing good numbers of ducks, but they were very skittish for some reason with ducks redily responding to the calls and setup, but often veering off just out of range...

I would say overall we had decent hunts with most folks bringing in 3-4 ducks per day...strangely, there were no early flights of teal, which would typically fill out our limits...

I was on the south side saturday, we got our limits in about 1.5 hours, but it took 4 of us almost 8 boxes of shells. We had the same issue with birds locking in and turning at the edge of our spread, The blind was covered very well, I tried mojo on, mojo off etc but they would not commit. Youth weekend they were landing in the blind..... 15 grays, 5 spoons, 3 teal, 1 wigeon, not sure where the teal went
