LSU team passing efficiency rank by year, Les Miles era

2005 - 20th
2006 - 4th
2007 - 37th
2008 - 80th
2009 - 49th
2010 - 92nd
2011 - 24th
2012 - 77th
2013 - 6th
2014 - 54th
Overall, LSU's average team pass efficiency rank under Les Miles among NCAA Div 1/FBS teams is 44th. Not spectacular but not too bad.... at first glance.
When we take out the five years (2005, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013) under which our primary quarterback received most or substantial training under other head coaches, that average sinks to 60th.
Nick Saban's teams at Alabama have ranked on average 31st, but 16th when playing with his own recruits.
Mark Richt's teams at Georgia have ranked on average 29th.
Draw your own conclusions.

When we take out the four years (2005, 2006, 2007, 2013) under which our primary quarterback received most or substantial college football training under other head coaches, that average sinks to 63th.

My bad.

Frankly, I thought it would have been worse on average.

Rex, we all know you hate Miles. Why is that? Did he kick your puppy or something?

what? All those qb spent most of their training under Miles.
Please prove where my math is wrong.
Jmar, 1 year under saban, 2 under Les.
Flynn, 1 rs year under saban, 4 under Les
JJ/Lee Les all the way.
Mett, 1 rs year at uga, 1 year at butler, 3 under Les.
????????

I love the cherry-picking of data.
Matt Flynn did NOT receive "most" or "substantial" training under another coach. He was under Les Miles for 3 of his 5 years. This is just terrible analysis designed to find something wrong.
We all get it -- our QB play is not very good. Nor has it been. Go back in time and review our passing efficiency over the past 30 years. Aside from a few positive blips, it's generally been pretty bad. This isn't something that is brand new under Les Miles.

I think his football philosophies are antiquated and that he's a poor game coach.
I don't think we should be finishing behind Alabama or Auburn or anybody else on a consistent basis.

And during that same time period, only one other team has more wins than LSU. And that's Boise St.
I'll take wins over stats any day.

Just so you know . . . we've won 102 games since '05. Bama is now at 101.

44th is pretty fricking spectacularly bad when you have NEVER recruited below the 20th ranked class.
