Per Variety, A Good Day to Die Hard and Jack Reacher actor Jai Courtney is in talks to play Deadshot in Suicide Squad. Fury director David Ayer is onboard to rewrite and helm the feature, and Deadshot figures heavily into the plot as he is one of the principal members of the titular group of supervillains who execute covert missions for the government in order to commute their prison sentences.
Variety notes that Hardy is in talks to play founding Suicide Squad member Rick Flag, while sources indicate Smith may be playing The Flash nemesis Captain Boomerang aka Digger Harkness

I've been on board with this up until they announced Will fricking Smith as Captain Boomerang. That's almost as bad as anything I've heard from the Fantastic 4. Seriously, if you asked me to say who I thought would be the worst major actor to portray Captain Boomerang, I think I would say Will Smith. Hopefully to god they've got this reversed and Will Smith is Deadshot and Jai Courtney is Captain Boomerang.

When I first saw that Will Smith was being cast for this movie, I figured it was going to be for either Bronze Tiger (which would've been bad enough) or Black Spider. I never dreamed in a million years that he would be cast as Captain Boomerang.
Like OMLandshark said, Having him be Deadshot (which still wouldn't be right) and Jai be Boomerang (although I think he would make a good enough Deadshot) would be better than this crap.

I agree on Black Spider. I wonder if that was the role they planned on him auditioning for, but when he read the script and found out that Boomerang had a bigger part, he threw a temper tantrum and demanded that they cast as Boomerang.
Also agree with you on him and Deadshot, that's why I said it still wouldn't be right. But as much as he doesn't fit for Deadshot, he really...really..really doesn't fit for Boomerang.
