Coach Miles has been asked a few times if Garrett will redshirt. The last press conference, he said he might. We have all seen Garrett play on special teams at least twice. I thought playing on special teams would burn his red shirt. If that is the case, it makes me wonder if Miles really knows Garrett has been in games. I guess it is typical of coach, his answers are shrouded in ambiguity and nonsensical communication.

Does anyone truly know if this guy has lost a year of eligibility?

I'm not sure but I sure hope someone is fired soon. We need to appease this fanbase asap.

If he played on special teams then he is not a redshirt.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure special teams doesn't burn your redshirt. I think it's a percentage of plays thing to still be redshirted. Again I could be completely wrong on that though.

Not banging on you, but every thread on redshirts always has this response. That rule is a decade old. One play anywhere on the field, you cannot redshirt absent an NCAA waiver.

That's fine, but there are several players at LSU alone who play in several games and redshirt every year.

Do tell. Who were they from last year's team?

So Miles is completely correct. "He MIGHT" redshirt because he has played so infrequently that the NCAA would likely grant a waiver if asked.

OP is the moron here, not CLM.

that is true, only if you are talking about a non medical redshirt. If you played in less than 30% of the teams games, you can apply for a medical redshirt. I believe that is the plan with CG. For the most part, when teams apply for this, they can usually find justification for it, and it is typically approved.

If Garrett has a waiver quality injury, Miles knows it, and will not be telling us about it.

Medical redshirts (which are actually called Hardship Waivers) are only granted at the end of a collegiate player's career under current NCAA rules.

Here is some information from the BC athletic department explaining the rules if one is interested.

He'll get a waiver to be redshirted.

Dwayne Thomas played against Texas A&M in 2012 and was able to get a redshirt. That's the last I remember of the play, but still redshirted guys.

You are wrong. Playing even 1 play burns your redshirt.

HOWEVER, they'll apply for a medical RS which has less stringent requirements.

No they don't, if you play you can't redshirt. If you play one snap you burn your year. A fifth year would require a medical hardship

Period.

The participation report does not list him.

Oh look, it is a Miles is an idiot thread, disguised as a Clifton Garrett redshirt thread.

All the while the OP is not real sure of any particulars or redshirt rules. Another day on the Rant

I feel like the weather for this Arky game is a perfect time to burn his redshirt.

He will be flying all over the field with no sleeves while everyone else is packing hand warmers in their jock straps.
