When will the Tigers ever improve outside and free throw shooting? Without looking at any statistics, they seem to be abysmal at those two aspects of the game year-in and year-out.

looks like last year they were 326th out of 345 in FT%.

eta: and 222nd out of 296 in 3pt %.

dont ask me why there is a different amount of teams in both stats. just going off ncaa.com

If they are just under 70% from the FT line, this is still a massive improvement for the program.

Generally what happens when your team is made up of a bunch of great athletes, but not necessarily great basketball players. They can get to the bucket by beating people with pure athleticism, but can't shoot worth a shite. Plus, with a lot of those types of teams the shot selection is either dunks or 3's. Poor shooters taking a bunch of 3's is not a great combination.

It's also why teams who aren't as athletic, but have good fundamental basketball players can compete and beat teams who are athletically superior (see Wisconsin, Butler, etc.)

Not a good sign for the Tigers.

Sometimes in those exhibitions, especially when a team isn't real disciplined either, they dick around and lose. Or coaches let them lose to prove a point. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless they continue to lose into the OOC schedule when it counts.
