Lee Zurik turns his attention to Gov. Jindal

His annual campaign spending on items like consultants and hotels have remained at levels similar to 2011, when he last faced an election. Other expenses, such as air travel, have actually inched up. The campaign spent more than $152,600 total for flights in 2012-13, including trips to New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and other must-visit states for any presidential hopeful.
The expenses have some political observers and administration critics asking whether the governor is running a pre-presidential warm-up in the way he's spending his state campaign account. They called it a possible evasion of the spirit - if not the letter - of a law that, according to Ethics Administrator Kathleen Allen, limits using contributions from a state campaign to pursue federal offices.
quote:
The large expenses by Jindal's campaign stuck out in a review of 2013 data by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune and WVUE Fox 8 News, part of a comprehensive examination of Louisiana campaign finance that the news organizations launched last year.
Reporters have previously shown how Jindal appointees to state boards and commissions showered his campaign with a total of $1.8 million in contributions in a four-year period that ended in 2012, some delivering the checks within days or a few weeks of their appointments. Jindal's office has said the governor made appointments "based on a person's experience and whether it's in the best interest of the state."

And before any accusation about Zurik being partisan is thrown around, he's gone after Republicans and Democrats alike in his reports on campaign account spending and double-billing of expenses by elected officials. Zurik has been the best watchdog against former EWE right hand man, John Alario.

He has doe eyes.
That being said, he's gone after just about every party/political stance. Done pretty legit work in NOLA.

Probably never. I can't stand Jindal, but so far, I've seen nothing from him that says "criminal".
He's just a slimy politician who sold us all a bill of goods about transparency and fighting the good ole boy network, only to do the opposite in about every instance except some of his education reform.

But this doesn't involve tax credits or DD.
I like the way IB can troll this board so well with the same topics, though.

Bobby provides so much hypocritical material he is an easy target.
Remember when he was traveling in state cars and planes on Sundays to "preach" in those North Louisiana churches and claimed the visits included state business with parish leaders and such??? Jindalicans thought nothing of it.
What was really ironic is that he referred to a Protestant preacher as a "used car salesmen" when we was trying to prove he was a great Catholic and was sending in articles to the New Oxford Review. Once it became more important to him to have Protestant votes he suddenly sought out these used car salesman for access to their congregations.

Lee makes his living off of the low hanging fruit like dog catchers selling deputy badges and coroners who use email for the first time...
Lee is out of his league on this one when talking campaign contributions and from a Governor who uses his influence to bring business into the state instead of robbing the tax payer.
He's swinging for the fences on this one and will come out looking foolish... It is November sweeps and Lee/ fox 8 building up the dramatics. Took down the coroner; better watch Lee now take out the governor... wooooooo

Got the upvote.

Lee Zurik is the hardest hitting investigative reporter around. Some of my favorites:
a) the cousin of the police chief in Amite got a ticket fixed. Can you believe that shite goes on?!?!
b) don't look now - but some (all?) Asian spas in NEw Orleans are really BROTHELS. Unbelievable. Thanks Lee for bringing that one to our attention! We never knew.
c) A government employee got a per diem when travelling. Can you believe that shite? Why do they have to eat?
Ron Burgundy would love this guy!

But he is robbing the taxpayers. According to the State Treasurer (whom I trust more than anybody in the current administration), we're spending more than we're bringing in and using accounting tricks (money that's already encumbered) to "balance" the budget.

Lee has also posted leading and false information many times. He has zero credibility.

He is literally the biggest joke on local news TV. Every time I see that dude the movie Anchorman comes to mind.

How naive can a Jindalican be???
You must have believed Jindal when he flying on the state helicopter in his first term to preach/campaign on Sundays claiming it was state business.
Heck you probably believe the hundreds of millions spent on sand berms and given to Shaw saved us all from the oil spill.
You even believe film tax credits are good thing and all the movies we finance should give Bobby some screen time.

Do just a little more digging homey. Lee and the Times Picayune helped bring down Mandeville mayor Eddie Price, had something to do with the causeway police chief fiasco, a north shore police situation, Jefferson Parish President Aron Broussard, some of the old school N.O. democrat cheaters and others.
Too bad there aren't about 15 or so other reporters and media outlets around the state with resources to expose the corrupt fck ups in our state.

Unfortunately, that's probably par for the course and not an out-right felony like what Edwin Edwards went to jail for.
Look, I think Jindal is a weasel. I wouldn't trust him or anyone amongst his inner circle. However, I'd say where Jindal is very smart is his hands are rarely dirty. He gets others to do his dirty work.
