Wanted to make this it's own thread. () indicate rank by position

Holiday USG 21.1 (31)

Gordon USG 15.1 (45)

Evans USG 26.2 (4)

Davis USG 25.1 (4)

Anderson USG 23.2 (6)

Asik USG 13.7 (35)

PER:

Holiday 18.50(18)

Gordon 3.62 (61) (Rivers has a PER of 13.73)

Evans 13.96 (25) (This is likely due to his shooting)

Davis 35.79(number 1 by nearly 10 )

Anderson 20.81 (12)(Even with his slow start he's pretty high)

Asik 19.30 (17)

What is usage?

Notes:

This is holidays highest PER to date and he's doing very well for his pretty low usage rate.

Rivers is nearly top 30 in PER while EG is bottom 10

Davis's PER is absurd,it's 5 points higher thus far than LBJ's MIA seasons when he won MVP.

Tyreke's high usage/his low shooting is contributing to his low PER. It was 18.43 last year(6th). As soon as he finishes better, his PER will rise a good bit.

Very small sample size but interesting so far.

His poor shooting is driving down his PER. PER is flawed because higher USG means higher PER.

So is EG really playing that good D and its effecting him on offense or is there just not enough shots for him now or does he really suck(my opinion)

He started out ice cold shooting. When he actually gets the ball, he has done a good job of setting up shooters (watch the AD highlights from SA). His D has been very good, he helps squeeze down on the post without totally losing his man, but I don't think that is affecting his offense. He is just not touching the ball much and his shot hasn't been fallin . His percentages will level out toward his career average, but I'm not sure he'll ever fit next to Evans' epic ball domination.

I wonder if there's a way to know how many of Davis's shots come from put backs. His usage is high, but it feels very soft to me.

He's getting 4.5 ORebs per game and taking 17.5 shots. So even if every OReb is a putback that's still 13 shots per game which would put him in a race for 2nd with Jrue (13.2 FGA) behind Tyreke (16.5 FGA).

I agree. If you add "bail me out AD" assists near the rim to the put backs, I'd be surprised if more than half of his 18.3 shots per game were the result of intending to go to AD on offense. That being said, he's wildly efficient playing as is and making him play in a more structured way could lead to everyone sitting around and watching AD make something happen, which would be a step back for the team and probably AD.

I'm still not convinced he's ready to "have the offense run through him." That requires a lot more than the ability to score, he needs to be able to pass too. AD has a 10.8% ast% this year (8% last year), by comparison:

Dirk 14%
Marc Gasol 17%
Durant was at 26% last year

Changing his role would boost his assist rate some, and I'm not saying he'd definitely be bad at it, just that I'm not sure he's there yet.

Monty gets a lot of flack, but our approach with AD is spot on. Of course it would be nice if the ball got in his hands more, but the ball doesn't stick with us at the beginning of shot clocks. Our guards are penetrating guards so it helps to have a stupid athletic guy like AD sagging off their drives to either pick up the easy dish or put back.

He is 21 lol jees he's just scratching the surface..

I agree with this.

I agree with this too. The passing and he's still pretty raw off the bounce and in the post. Blake Griffin gets tons of shite here, but if Davis can develop handle and passing like Blake has he will be dynamite.

At some point though, they need to let him spread his wings some.

hahahaha

Eric Gordon percentages may level out. They almost have to. But with how Rivers is playing... and with the history of Gordon in this city... leaves a lot to be desired. We could do better.

EG is saving Evans from catching flak right now. If Evans doesn't learn to play more within himself and the system, the Gordon bashers will shift their focus to Evans when Gordon leaves. Some of our fans just thrive on hating one of their own players. They will always find a player to hate
