Which Fincher film did you enjoy more, Seven or Gone Girl?

I re watched Seven last night for the first time in about a decade on Netflix and I have to say, it is probably the perfect murder/thriller film for me. Just the overall darkness of the film and Spacey played an absolute perfect psychopath.

Gone girl was well done, but in a totally different league IMO. It just did not leave me on the edge of my seat like Seven did.

I have not seen it in quite a while, but seven was much better than GG for me. I am not as big on GG as others on this board though. Did not love.

I saw Seven when I was in high school. It was with some friends. We were all pretty freaked out and talked about it(like HSers do) for a couple weeks.

I saw Gone Girl and thought it was good and well made.

But I will always think Seven is better because of the impact the film had on me at the time. Im catholic so religious themes have always piqued my interest.

that isn't to say one is better then the other. Seven had better timing for me.

Now if I was in a loveless marriage / was banging some 19 YO / would fear for my life if she ever found out, I would probably relate more to Gone Girl.

Love them both, but I absolutely love how Fincher directs Gone Girl. He makes the story very pure on screen. It almost seems like the background is hollow, so we can focus on the main story. It's hard to explain, but I was grinning ear to ear the first time I saw it.

I think they are hard to compare, one was much darker than the other.

Gone Girl was funny in parts to me, I didn't even really feel any of that during Se7en.

Both really well acted and of course the cast of Se7en was incredible with Freeman, Pitt and Spacey.

Se7en was incredible about setting a specific mood.

Raining the whole time and just the look of the film is incredible.

Both were great films, but Se7en is an all time great.

Zodiac is his best IMO. Then Gone Girl. Then Se7en. Then Dragon Tattoo.

Seven is a better film. I don't know that it was 'enjoyable.'

I saw gone Girl last night. Well done, but it did NOT know when to end.

I loved both. I haven't seen Seven in awhile so it's tough to compare. Gone Girl was a well constructed wild ride. He definately feels as though he has gotten better over the years. He has said that he can't watch Seven without cringing, whatever that means.
