I think I saw an attempt early, but for some reason Jennings pulled it back in and ran the ball, himself.

Maybe it's been relegated to the trash heap? We can hope.

Why, you don't like positive yardage plays?

The play isn't stupid. Its designed to be a counter to the toss sweep. Its also very much a body blow play.

I hate plays that we average 5 yards on

Can you recall any other team using the play?

Georgia

Green Bay earlier this year

We actually ran a PA out of it and 85 was wide open down the middle of the field. Jennings didn't see him

You base the effectiveness of an offensive play by whether other teams use it?

My evaluation is based on results and potentialities. It suffers on both counts. We've been over this before... my only purpose in this thread is to express my pleasure that it was missing from the game.

Seems to me it has been more effective than our passing game based on these qualifiers.

Rex, We ran it a time or two, and gained positive yards. Some plays are meant to gain 3-4 yards and the toss dive usually achieves that goal. Coaches don't have "home-run" plays. Most run plays are designed to pick up 5 yards, and most pass plays are designed to pick up 8-10, but you don't want to hear that.

I'm guessing you had mixed feelings about the option play that resulted in a 1st down.
