The soccer mom effect has finally taken full hold.

These are the same Scarborough Spartans that haven't won a game since 2009. Their losing streak stands at 56 games, good - or bad - enough to be the second longest in state history.

Texas expanded the playoffs even more this year, going from 12 to 14 class divisions, letting in even more historically terrible programs. A glance at the huge brackets shows a multitude of .500 or worse teams.

That's right, Texas awards 14 state football championships. And that doesn't include private school tournaments which add several more.

The team I coach in LA is playing a 1-8 team this Friday night in the playoffs. With the select / non-select crap, there are multiple teams with 2 or less wins in the playoffs.

I am so scared and worried that I am calling in John Staub to come give a de-motivational speech to my team.

According to the article this happened due to a quirk of sorts. The top four teams in each division make the playoffs. However, this team is in a division with five schools, and one of the five dropped its football program after the rule was announced.

And since UIL (the governing body for Texas public HS sports) only realigns districts every other year, Scarborough will make the playoffs again next year.

The big problem they have is not only will they lose, they may lose badly--their opponent is West Orange-Stark, one of the powerhouses in the Golden Triangle area.

We have an 0-10 team in Louisiana making the playoffs as well.

East Iberville

And their closest game was a 34-12 defeat.

The same thing is happening with Louisiana high school football. There are multiple One Win teams that are in the brackets.
