I'm thinking about getting this next week but I've never played 1-3. My question is will I know what's going on? In other words are all 4 games linked to the same story?

Different stories, you're fine.

What you need to worry about is the fact that it's only good for 1 playthrough. It's a great playthrough, but you won't touch it again

I would disagree with Carson. Farcry 3 to me was very run and had a lot of replayability, even with just the outpost attacks outside of missions. Could do it differently every time.

He's just a universal Ubisoft hater.

I played Far Cry 3 twice on PS3, LOVED the Blood Dragon DLC, and got it on PC and played it yet again.

I actually agree with Carson. I played through FC3 once and didn't want to do it again.

The environments were gorgeous and the FPS was very well done.

The story was run of the mill.

The biggest issue was that the main character was so damn unlikable.

Also, they discard the best enemy and the other bosses with useless boss fights that sucked.

Carson's right.

No real replayability, but the initial play is among he best gaming experiences of all time.

This is stupid and I am not sure what your ground breaking point is here. Most stories in games are usually only good for one play through so what matters is how good that play through is. Far Cry 3 was pretty fun and had a great open world to explore on top of the story. Well worth it IMO.

That's not counting the multi player that was really well done too.

Regardless of what you think of the protagonists (annoying little trust fund douches), game is crazy fun and there is plenty to keep someone entertained, even if you spend your time just finding radio towers, liberating camps, or hunting.

Yep. Exactly.

I have learned to just ignore Carson's opinion on everything. He is like Stan in that one episode of South Park where everything reminds him of shite or sounds like farts.

I started Far Cry 3 recently and I find it pretty good. I'm not that interested in all the side missions but I'm enjoying the main story line. The main character is a little whiny but I can handle it.

I wasn't trying to make some groundbreaking point. It's not like I'm hating it to hate it. Very common complaint with FC3

I'm with you.

The world is vastly overrated when it came to secondary stuff to do. After a single play-through, there was hardly anything to really hold attention. This may be normal for COD, but I expected more from an open world game like this.

To speak to one of Stouts points, I thought the multiplayer was extremely generic making it really hard to invest time into.

Glad others enjoyed it though.

See, that's already 3 people in this small thread that agree. Like I said, it was great for a playthrough. Had a blast. I was a monster with the bow. But after I did all the outposts and shite, I was like "great," and called my cousin and gave it to him for 40 bucks

Eta: my main grief is that you just wrote my opinion off as stupid. I would never do that to you, stout

You shite on EVERYTHING though so that's the only reason I ignore your opinions.

Nothing personal since you have your own taste and I have mine but I have never seen you say anything positive on here or the M/TV board for example.
