Just wondering, flying out next week and wait time to ask the airline is 20-32 mins.
I have 2 daughters 8 & 10.

Flying unaccompanied? Or with you?

FWIW from Southwest's Website:
quote:
You must present a valid Government-issued I.D. providing age (child) or a birth certificate (infant) to the Customer Service Agent at the airport when you check in for your flight. At that time, the date of birth listed in your child's account will be updated to indicate that age has been verified.

Assuming you are talking Domestic air travel? Nope, not needed if under 18.

I think what I posted is required to receive the discounted child fare and not required to board.
But I might be wrong.

I saw that, but I think that is to validate a child's fare. We didn't buy childrens fares, we bought Get Away Fares, all the same price.

Yeah, I think that's correct.
See my above post.

No ID unless under 2 and flying lap

I've flown many times with my kids. Was never required on any airline.

I've never had to show id with either of my kids and they've flown since they were babies when they sat on our laps until now they they sit in their own seats.

Flew Southwest last year when my girl was 5 and they never asked for it. We had her birth certificate and our drivers licenses. Domestic flight.

Flew Southwest last summer with 4 and 11 year old grand kids. No I.D.'s needed.

Are you coming from west Africa?

Seems like something that should be required, though.
