There are so many damn side quests in the hinterlands.

I do a couple and it seems like I pick up 5 more while I'm out there.

I'm annoyed with the ones is where all it does it give you a fricking area to search for a book or a banner or a body and it's impossible to see. I spent at least 30 minutes between two of those missions where i had cleared out the area and i was walking back and forth, looking for a banner.

Those missions where you gotta traipse the field of purple logo to find the one damn square you're supposed to press X? I see why some games have important items with a white highlight around them even if you aren't directly looking at it.

Unless there's a person I'm supposed to kill every single thing in sight or a landmark that is exactly where the mission marker is, I find myself leaving those missions alone.

Anywho. There is one rift near the farm in particular that I can't even touch. And I love the game for it. I keep going back just to see how far I've come. I finally made it past the first wave. But then the 2nd wave promptly wrecked all of my shite.

Never played a dragon age game before. Is it ok to start out with this one?

What other games would you guys compare this too. Or is it unique. Looks like combo of mass effect, tactical skyrim

That's a pretty good comparison. I like the story here a lot better than Skyrim.

And for a good primer on the lore, I found this article helpful:

The game really starts slow then picks up. The amount of shite to do is really ridiculous. The hallmark of Dragon Age Origins for me were the decisions and interesting characters. So far the game is light on the former but I'm not even half way through the game so it's too early to judge there. The characters are more interesting then I thought they would be from the companion videos.

I've never had a problem finding those locations. There was only one that threw me off until I realized that it was in a cave.

I've been kind of wandering around a bit since I get slaughtered in certain parts of the hinterlands. What do I need to start the apostate/templar camps?

Well I did that, you don't have to negotiate with anyone? Just kill em all? The quest marker is still there

There is a boss of that camp

I believe that is the templar camp, I must have missed the boss or something.

He was kinda hiding away from everyone else.. (like a boss)

I aggrod him first and he called his cronies, of course.

His series of tents overlooks the waterfall. When you con him, it has a silvery border or something signifying he is elite /boss/ not normal

Yeah the boss is up the path to the left before the bridge past the two tents.
