It's time to buy Little Dong 1 his first shotgun. I'm looking at a Remington 11-87 20 gauge. Problem is he shoots left handed due to being right handed and left eye dominant. I might be missing something, but I don't think they make that gun in a left handed model. He's been using a loaner during 4H shooting practice and now it's time to get his own so he can practice here at the house.

I know they sell a kit to change the safety to a left handed safety, but i'm uneasy about having the shells ejecting in front of his face. Am I being overprotective or is this a real concern. Thoughts? TIA

It's a real concern. Burnt powder also flys out and gets in your eyes.

I am left handed and shot right handed guns my entire life. We learn to live and adjust in a right handed world. He will be repressed but will adapt and survive...

I'm left handed my father bought me a browning bps in the 20 ga model that ejected the shells out of the bottom. You might look into that. I still have it. It's a sweet little gun

He's been shooting right handed until now, wick, just not very well. at the suggestion of his instructor, who I know and trust, we switched him to shooting left handed and he's progressed very well.

as someone suggested, I'm going to look into the browning bps.

870 makes the youth model for lefties, but leaning towards an auto loader. I've shot an 870 my whole life and we may end up going that route.

Lefty here
I've never had problems w RH pump guns, but my A5 will spit hot brass on my arm if wearing short sleeves.
When you pull a pump gun back, your arm is farther back so the brass just falls down.
The only auto gun with bottom eject that I know of was a Remington that was only made for 2 years.
ETA: Remington CTI 105
Remington has also made Lefty 1100's in the past

Bps. My first gun and still like to shoot it. Shells go out the bottom and won't hit him or his blind mates
