How do you pronounce? Pee-row or pee-rog?

My cousins in south Louisiana say pee-row and that's what I always thought it was. But lots of friends (many from Nola area) insist it is pee-rog.

Damn...a LOT of these people are insistent on the other way. Guess I need to re-evaluate who I associate with

I'm from St. Bernard and this is how I pronounce it...I didn't hear it any other way until I met friends from the SW part of the state

ETA: Also like this if I am drunk

quote:

Da parish will call it a pee rawg 9 times out of 9

Grandma Boudreaux from Ascension parish said "pee-row".

Coonass college roomies from Lockport/Raceland said "pee-rog".

I think either one works.
