I know these stupid threads get brought up all the time, and I do not think in ANY way that UK could beat the 76ers.

But I don't think they would win by 40.

Consider: the 76ers have the following players heavily in the rotation: Hollis Thompson, Henry Sims, Brandon Davies, Malcolm Thomas, Chris Johnson, and Jakarr Sampson.

All of those guys were undrafted and marginal players. None were elite college players and wouldn't be on any other roster.

Also consider: Noel and MCW are hurt and would possibly not play.

They might be able to win.

A lot of players on the 76ers are still college-age and are only a year or two removed from college.

And in basketball, inferior teams can steal games due to shooting really well or the other team shooting poorly.

Now, the 76ers would win most of the time.. but Kentucky can steal some games here and there.

Philly wins but the 76ers roster is all time bad.

I don't think so.

But I think this question is more legit than in past years. This 76ers team is just abysmal. And if Noel and MCW aren't playing? Dreadful.

Wroten would go HAM on them. But other than that, it would just be a matter of man strength and conditioning that would kill them, but its not like the 6ers roster is laden with veterans.

Philly wins by double digits probably every time they play.

@UKCoachCalipari: I hear Coach Briggs got excited after the game last night. Let me be clear: If we played ANY NBA team, we would get buried. ANY.

Calipari doesn't want his players thinking they are that good.

He wants them to work hard and not get comfortable.

Any coach would say the same thing Calipari did even if deep down he knows they are way better than he's letting on.

You can't take anything from that tweet.

And the reason Calipari sent out that tweet is because the coach of the team they just beat 121-52 said after the game:

quote:

Those guys are unreal. I told the guys in the locker room, they could have beaten some NBA teams tonight, there’s no question in my mind,” Briggs said.

This is true. But Cal also knows that Philly really would boat race Kentucky

So if they played 1,000 games, Philly would win 1000 out of 1000?

Kentucky probably has more first-round talent than the 76ers do...

I agree, I just think this is closer than any Pro v College team in memory. Which is to say the Pro team would still win by double digits.

Look at that roster without MCW and Noel (and Embiid).

I mean...ouch.

This.

They play 10 games, Kentucky would win 1 or 2.

Probably. Yea. Unless Philly just took the night off.

I always like to bring up the 2009 UNC Tarheels in these conversations. They were one of the best CBB teams of all time. Won every tournament game by double digits. 5 eventual 1st round picks and a 2nd rounder.

Imagine if they were all still playing together today. Conceivably, they would be better today in 2014 after 5 years of gelling and playing together, than they were in 2009.

How good would this NBA team be?
Tyler Hansborough, Ty Lawson, Danny Green, Wayne Ellington, Tyler Zeller, Ed Davis... plus a few Euro league guys... they would suck.

Not to mention Davis and Zeller were freshmen on that 09 squad and Zeller hardly even played. Just a way to put things in perspective.
