Good morning, Tigerdroppings. I feel great. I decided not to drink yesterday to have a fresh start to my Monday. Blame the Saints' loss on that decision.

Friday I attended a Roots of Music fundraiser at Nola Brewery. My buddy, Kirk, was in attendance and gave me the private tour. His office is nicer than mine. Roots is an organization that provides music education to at risk youth. You may have seen them march in a few parades.

The brewery provided a nice back drop for the event.

GG's Dine-o-Rama provided the catering. They had 7 cheese macaroni, pulled pork sandwiches, shrimp wraps with bacon, sweet potato and andouille bisque, and beer and chocolate caramel cupcakes.

The food exceeded my expectations. The macaroni was my favorite, and I'm not much of a pasta eater. The pork sliders were warm and had a great flavor. They didn't kill them with sauce. The shrimp wrap was damn good, but I didn't want to look like a fatty by taking a few of them. The bisque was great, but I would have prefered it without the sour cream.

Big Sam provided the entertainment. He knows how to make white women shake their asses.

Nola offered several free beers, but they were also selling some of their new brews. I don't enjoy beer, so I stuck with the free bourbon. Several of my friends enjoyed the "sour" beer. I'm not sure how people drink that. I tastes it, and I thought I was cosuming Sour Patch kids in liquid form. I'm glad I didn't spit it up on some Uptown girl's Louboutins.

After several drinks, my friend took me to the Quarter. We had to meet some out of towners from Omaha who came in for the LSU game. They're quasi-LSU fans from baseball. We met them at Pat O's. The bar was packed, and I don't like crowds or that bar too much. After a drink, we decided to head to Cat Meow's. I'll never understand the attraction to this place. I walked out in less than 3 minutes.

I walked over to Lafitte's to grab some bourbon. The bar was also packed. I grabbed a corner table by the new photo booth. Some drunk Bama girl was passed out inside of it. I guess she couldn't handle the Purple Drink.

After dealing with her shite, I became hungry. I was jonesing for a BLT from Clover Girl. I walked in and they only had about three tables occupied. Two guys were behind the counter working. I looked around and all the parties looked pissed off, and the wait staff looked like they could frick up a wet dream. I decided to leave.

On my way back to Lafitte's, I saw Nola Poboys. I only drop in there when I'm destroyed. After perusing the menu, I ordered a BLT and tater tots. While my food was being made, I went to the bathroom. The men's room was on the second floor. The entire second floor was being remodeled for residential units. On my way back downstairs, I discovered a contractor had drawn Dick Butt's cousin.

I grabbed my food and returned to my table at Lafitte's. The food was awesome! The BLT was warm, and the mayo hit the spot. The tots were good and spicy. I think they through some red pepper on them. I wish I had more mayo to dip the tots in.

Around 1, I closed my tab and headed home.

I awoke Saturday morning desiring some bourbon. I made some breakfast and headed off to Avenue Pub. I had hope to reenact my Ole Miss Saturday morning to ensure victory. For Christ's sake, my lucky undies have made it a long way.

Avenue Pub was empty and the music was off. It was very odd in there, but the Elijah Craig was good.

After my drink, I ran home to shower to head to the Quarter for a relaxing day of drinking. I went to Lafitte's and threw on some 90's hip hop. After pounding several bourbons and talking shite to some Bama fans, I decided to up the quality of my cocktails and headed to SoBou.

SoBou has one of, if not the best, bartenders in the city in Abigail. I ordered a Charbonneau Way, which has rye whiskey, suze, lemon, maple syrup and fresh thyme. It was delicious.

It was around 1:30, so I ordered some lunch. I ordered some boudin balls, pork cracklin', foie gras burger, and foie gras ice cream float.

I didn't realize the burger came with pork rinds as well. Maybe I should learn how to read. But either way, the more rinds the better.

The burger was ridiculous. It made it's way into my top 4 in the city. It was a little small, but I doubt I could handle many more calories. The foie gras and eggs were singing high notes in my mouth.

After eating the burger, the float's encore was just as nice. I want to hug the person who made that dish.

Before heading out, I got a Big Chief, which has Benchmark bourbon, Punt e Mes, Averna, flambeaux orange peel. Here's the orange.

After lunch, we returned to Lafitte's to continue pounding Beam to around 5. Some assholes were playing the same song on the corner for about thirty minutes, and the music from the jukebox was being interrupted.

I got my boy, Smooth, to run them off. I don't think I could take the squirrely guy on the left. After he ran them off and my nerves calmed, I ordered a Purple.

Some guy with a new invention for a hat walked in.

When headed to the cab, I ran into Sean Connery.

On my home, I was trying to decide on what to eat. I was too drunk to cook and didn't have time to sit down at a table. I picked up some Mint. I got some wings, crab rangoon and fried rice.

After guzzling that shite, I sat down to watch the game with some Beam. I cursed a lot and almost threw something. I'm glad that I wasn't in the stadium.

After the game, Saban started to talk to the reporters. My last memory of the night is screaming to get that mf'er off the television.

On Sunday, I awoke to a bad taste from the game. Amazingly, it tasted like Beam. I didn't have time to lay around, since we had a required turnout at mass for St. Peter Claver. I quickly showered and turned my swag on.

After mass, I grabbed an adult beverage and headed Uptown to touchdown for the Saints game. We made some 7 layer dip and headed to my bro's. He grilled some kabobs.

The food was outstanding. I'm such a glutton, I put that dip on top of my kabobs. My family doesn't look at me funny. At least I don't think they do.

I polished the meal with a pettifor.

After the game, I went home to rest. I watched Total Recall on Netflix. The cinematography was amazing and humorous. The fight scenes had me laughing my arse off. During the movie, I began craving pie.

Around 7, I went ot Camellia Grill. I ordered red beans w/ hot sausage, french fries and pecan pie a la mode.

I hadn't been to Camellia Uptown in a while. It was just what I wanted. The entire meal, with a grilled cheese, was $20. I left very satisfied.

That was until I got home. The combination of all the bean dip, red beans and ice cream did not sit well. But given the chance, I'd do it all again.

Stay fat, my friends.

My weekend would have been so boring. It would have been something like this:

Made a big pot of gumbo friday night
I ate off of it all day Saturday.
I made a big sunday brunch after church
I ate more leftover gumbo Sunday evening.

You gotta at least apply the 3-sip rule if you are new to sour beer. The first sip will shock your palate since your brain has been trained to not expect beer to have that kind of flavors. You won't jump the mental hurdle in one sip.

How long did it take you to get home?

My ticket fell through on Wednesday, and it wasn't worth the risk to go tailgate all day and head home.

Great Arse just great!

Mine went like this.

Saturday Morning my son wanted to enter crawfish bisque into the 4H Sugar and Seafood cookoff. So Friday we made crawfish bisque and ate it for supper.

Saturday AM we went to the cookoff. We entered his dish, they still had an hour befor judging so went pick up a sack of Oysters from Collins in Golden Meadow. After we picked up the oysters we stopped off at Franks in Golden Meadow and got a Sushi Roll and some fried catfish for a snack. Their Sushi was suprisingly good, the chef made it to order for us.

My son ended up with a purple ribbon. We both called bullshite and headed to Thibodaux to watch my daughter dance at Thibodauville. On the way there we stopped off at home. We had to sample the oysters, they were fat and salty.

We made it to Thibodaux and watched my daughter dance..... she worked up an appetite dancing so I couldn't let her eat alone. I got a Green Onion Sausage Patty Burger from one of the vendors, it had pimento cheese, grilled onions and peppers, he was selling tamales too so I put some tamales sauce on it. It was very good!

We busted out of Thibodaux and headed home. Made a fire in the fire pit and started openeing oysters...... grilled some oysters over the fire and ate them with some toasted french bread. Watched the game and went to bed mad.

Sunday woke up and headed to the dome. Got a sausage egg and cheese and biscuit from Rouses and headed to my buddies tailgate. Went into the dome a little early and got some nachos. Watched thr Saints fight back and come up short.

My mother in law called us on the way out the dome to let us know that she cooked. We got home and had Chicken, Sausage, Smoked Turkey Neck, Andouille and oyster gumbo, potato salas baked chicken, green beans and deer chili. I ate some gumbo and baked chicken and called it a weekend.

sounds familiar

eta: the plating of the red beans and rice from Camillia is a very odd, almost disturbing. Did you request that?

I saw a hot sausage sandwich on the menu first. Then I saw it could come with the red beans. I asked the server if they were good. He said he eats them all the time. My decision was made. They were good and creamy. They also had pieces of sausage in the beans. I liked the hot sausage on the side. I do this at home with my sausage as well. The only thing I would have liked it to be served with was a little vinegar and onions.

eta...It was served on a big oval plate. The pic may be a little confusing.
