WWII Flight Combat simulator games advice

I'm trying to find a WWII flight sim for my dad for Christmas. He's 60 and not super tech savy, but his favorite game ever was Jane's Combat Simulator. He actually had a really nice joystick and spent hours playing. He even went so far as to buy a second copy of the game in case me or my brother were to accidentally break the cd. Anyways, he can't get the game to run on his newer laptop (I assume that the platform the old games were built on just aren't supported any more).
If anyone knows any newer WWII sims that are out there (particularly if they have a free flight/wave play feature) or knows how I could set up his computer to allow him to play the old game that would be most helpful.
Thanks.

Damn that's a bummer.
He probably got a 64 bit OS and the game is made for 32.
You could install an old OS on a partition maybe and run the game thru that..and make it the primary boot if that's all he does and cares about
World of warplanes maybe is an option otherwise...
Os meaning operating system. Wait for Ilikelsutoo to show up though..he will have the right answer

I know IL-2 is another WWII flight-sim game, if the advice to get the old one running doesn't pan out look into this maybe?

IL-2 would be a good one. Steam also has an MMO sim War Thunder that may be worth looking at. If he likes War Thunder you could eventually hook him up with an Oculus and he would probably have a great time Full Oculus support
GOG.com has a few old combat sims, they aren't Janes but they may have that old school feel he is looking for.

I wish they would do a new version of the Microsoft WWII Flight Sim, that one was great back in the day.

You might want to look into setting up a virtual OS with WMware or equivalent with specs that are recommended to run the old game if he likes it that much

Thanks for the advice everybody.
I'll let him try out the IL-2, but will keep the virtual OS as a back up plan if he doesn't like it as much.
