How much different or if there is any difference is a drill weekend compared to active duty. I'm currently on irr and considering going into a reserve unit. I was in a mechanized infantry duty station. Also know as marneland the brigade I was in however was light infantry.

I got out in 99. My experience was that most work was only entrusted to full-timers. On a monthly basis, it felt like we moved stuff from point a to point b on month and the reverse the next month with weapons qualification and PT tests thrown in . I'm sure like all things, the unit you get into will make a difference.

Its a lot different. Active duty you're trying to find training and activities to fill time. Reserve side, you're trying to shove everything that you need to do into a few days.

Its pretty busy, in my experience I'm always doing something whether it be admin stuff, PFT's, CFT's, jump ops, field work, shooting. Never much downtime
