I just finished season 3. The show has good writing, but I don't get the hype. The detectives (particularly McNulty) are terrible characters.

Season 3 on the whole was "meh". Hoping for something better out of Season 4.

The cops are caricatures of cop stereotypes. They suck.

No really, you suck for blaspheming on this great show. I can't stand cop dramas but I loved this show. I thought the characters were very well written, yes a bit stereotypical but what isn't these days?

Not a troll attempt. Legitimately disappointed, but can't quit watching.

Omar, GOAT. Awesome character.

I'm watching season 3 right now. It is a bit down from season 2, but it's still good. It is a little dated since it started in 2002.

Government surveillance?
Class warfare?
Bureaucratic dysfunction?

It's probably more relevant than ever.

Da fuk?

Season 2 was the worst season.

And there's nothing dated about the show at all.

Actually considered a period piece of the turn of the century America...and Season 2 was one of the best seasons, FWIW.

Also, McNulty and Bunk are great characters.

This....I finished the series a few months ago. I didn't fall in love like I've read some on here have; however, I felt it overall to be one of the better shows that I have watched. Very intriguing story line and kept me clicking to the next episode despite not having the time. Season 4 was my favorite.

Period pieces are generally not made in the same time period they are depicting. Goodfellas is an example of a period piece. Scarface is just a movie made in the 80s.

McNulty is the worst character on the show. The dude is a terrible actor.

Season 3 was certainly a let down to me. Marathoning the episodes might have an effect on my opinion.
