I guess. But if were going to pimp up the SEC west all season as basically owning the bulk of the top ten teams in the country and then make a case that they dont belong in the discussion for the NC because they lost to each other?

They were talking about the possibility of a five-way tie for first in the West Division of the SEC and said IF that happens it might be possible it would also mean no SEC team gets into the 4 team playoff which is not out of the question.
Auburn wins the tie breaker, goes to the SEC championship game and gets beat. The SEC East champion might already have 3 losses going into the SEC championship game and even if they win the championship game, the SEC would be out of the four team playoffs.

Well considering that Bama has only lost 6 regular season games over the last 6 years and has won
5 of the last 7 against LSU I guess I can kind of understand their logic

If there is one of the multiple tie scenarios described it could well happen. Remember, the teams are decided by biased human beings. I think that there is a strong feeling to exclude the SEC from the tournament if at all possible. It is not crazy talk inasmuch as the committee could do it easily if all in the SEC have 2 losses. If by some miracle LSU wins the SEC they will point to its two blowout losses as a reason to exclude the SEC champ. Do I agree with that? No, but this is the politics of CFB.
