Giving the illegals green cards

If President Obama uses his executive authority to give millions of illegal aliens green cards, what will that happen to the job market in America? Currently, these people are picking apples and washing dishes - doing the low-paying, under-the-radar jobs that many Americans won't do. They were never a threat to the American blue collar worker, because they didn't have the legal status to compete for most blue collar jobs.
If we give these people green cards, will they be happy to continue working in these menial jobs, or will they go after union jobs, high paying trade jobs, etc? Are they going to drive down the wages the average blue collar worker earns?
Why wouldn't small business owners across this country take advantage of a new source of cheap labor that now happens to be legal, as well? Democrats claim to be looking out for the little guy, yet the little guy is going to get smoked when these illegal aliens are given legal status...
Why do Democrats think this is a good idea?

I agree with you.
I have always said that if some people say we need illegalls here to do the jobs Americans won't do, why are we making them Americans? Now that they are Americans they wont do those jobs and we will need more illegals.

Does this mean plumbing work will now be more affordable?

You have jumped 12 steps ahead of the average liberal in the critical thought process about the possible repercussions of such actions.

Obama will only be harming the Dem base by doing this. The sad part is that most don't have any idea.

Perhaps the traditional blue collar Democrat base has been eroding and Obama wants to shore it up with a new wave of low information blue collar workers.

They won't be able to do the off-the-books, sub-minimum wage work they're doing now, nor will there be any incentive, as they will be able to join the millions of unskilled, unmotivated Americans in the "sitting on arse and drawing government benefits" club.
Thus - there will be an even bigger market for illegals to cross the border to fill these jobs, now that "legal" illegals have won the lottery. Rinse, repeat and call us in 2035 or 2040 when you need to have amnesty for another 5 to 8 million.
Unil the border is secured and a major disincentive is enforced on the employers who benefit from illegal immigation this problem will continue forever. I don't blame the poor Mestizos who have little-to-no education, little-to-no prospects and are being actively encouraged by both their own government and the Democrat party (as well as traditional Republican special interests like the Champber of Commerce - and others) of the U.S. to come here and work for virtually nothing. Because virtually nothing is better than nothing.
But my not blaming them doesn't mean I don't think the practice shouldn't be halted. It should and for everyone's best interest - if we could stop or even better, reverse the flow, perhaps Mexico would have to address their racist and poverty-unfriendly 2-class system.
