I think I have a dead mouse in the wall at my house. How long will it take for the smell to go away?

Could be a dead body under the house or in the attic, better check.

I checked the attic and the house is on a slab so if there is one under there it is there for good.

You had better hope it's a mouse and not a large rat or something bigger. It will take a while for the maggots to form and eat a larger animal. Better hope you don't have any cracks accessible to where the animal is either.

Some years ago, I had a dead mouse or rat in the attic right over the kitchen door. AWFUL. Bug guy couldn't find it because it was apparently buried in a lot of insulation somewhere. Fortunately, it turned cold a few days or so after the smell arrived. Never smelled it again. Pray for cold weather that gets to it.

A few days... A week at the most

It's a rat or squirrel. You wouldn't really smell a dead mouse through a wall.

Yeah I'm more of a Skrillex guy myself

You will smell a mouse through a wall. Don't be silly.
I quit putting out poison and started putting out glue traps. Bc then I can sadistically murder it as opposed to it stinking up the place.
Poison people say they will become dehydrated and leave for sources of water, but this isn't true.

Once the flies show up about 2 weeks after that. It'll take longer during the fall/Winter months.

Now that it's cooking off...might be months.
