I had a coworker give me a Wizard brand boat motor. I have the serial and model numbers. Where could I go to find out how much it's worth?

Only thing I can think of is trying the nada guides site and look under boats and motors.

OP, really not worth anything. If it runs, you might get $100 for it off craigslist. Really. Not many people collect small old outboard motors anymore.

Yeah, I tried that but couldn't find anything sadly.

Is it a frozen up old relic? If you're selling it as a wall hanger, probably no more than $100 (more like $50 though.) If it runs, or even pulls over you have a shot at more. How old is the engine? What shape is it in etc?

I use The Hull Truth for things like that, specialty stuff salty dogs know all about. Good luck though, here's a chart with what year which factory produced Wizard with model/serial info.

The guy said that the last time he had it running was about two or three years ago. We haven't tried to pull on it or anything yet. Here is a picture of the motor plate.

I think it's around a 64 model. Needs a little cleaning on the motor itself for sure.

Yep '64 model, made by McCulloch motors. If he wasn't joshing you, that engine should still turn over. If you clean out the carb on that old thing I wouldn't be surprised if it tried to fire up. And at 7.5hp that's not a bad little engine to have around.

When you get some time, mount it on something and see if you can turn it over. If so, that engine lives to die another way. If not, its frozen and you can either A.) sell it as a wall hanger (or scrap) or B.) Get your fingers dirty.

I like working on these as hobbies, I've got a '55 Johnson Sea Horse 'thawing' now. Nothing beats seeing those old engines come back to life again
