Not sure if too many people have heard of this... But it's 1 of the rarest stat lines a player can have in a game. It's when a player has at least 5 points, rebs, assists, blocks, and steals. Pretty much a stat line that the complete, 2 way players have a shot at getting.

It's been done a total of 15 times now in the last 27 years. Batum did it in 2012. He was the 1st player to do it since 2006. Hakeem Olajuwon did it 6times, Andre Kirilenko did it 3times, David Robinson, Vlade Divac, Marcus Camby, Derrick Coleman, and Jamal Tinsley have all done it once.

So who are some current players that could possibly have a 5by5?

Obviously Batum has a shot to accomplish this again. But II think Anthony Davis, Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, Westbrook, Jimmy Butler, John Wall, Greek Freak, Eric Bledsoe, and Kawhi Leonard all have a chance at maybe doing it.

Maybe Rubio and Rondo, if they get lucky with some blocks. And if Paul George comes back 100%, he has a shot as well.

Anthony Davis probably has the best shot.

Points, rebounds, and blocks are easy for him to get.

5 assists are very do-able.

5 steals can be done although it would be difficult.

Josh Smith is a good candidate.

How did Jamal Tinsley block 5 shots in a game?

Yea I agree AD probably has the best shot at it. And with his length he can get in the passing lanes at ease

No idea how Tinsley got those 5 blocks. Lucky night I guess

But yea it's extremely rare for a guard to get it.

The blocks is what make it hard for a guard. Last night Trevor Ariza had 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 0 blocks.

I think it's more likely for a big guy to get 5 steals by poking the ball away from a clumsy big guy than for a guard to block 5 shots.

Most likely Rocket is Kostas Papanikolaou. He is scrappy as hell.

Well yeah the blocks is what makes it difficult for a guard

That's why I think Wall probably has the best chance out guards... He's a legit 6'4 and freak athlete that can fly.

And yes Ariza is a guy that has a chance... But he's a small forward. When I say guard, I mean a point or shooting guard.

And yea I agree it's more likely a post player gets 5 steals instead of a guard getting 5 blocks... Hell bigs like Davis, Gasol, Noah, etc get a few steals a night it seems like.

When guys lose the ball in the traffic on the drives, it bounces right into their hands. I absolute hate how the steal is awarded in basketball. A lot of times, the guy who makes the play doesn't get credit. In football, there is forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, and forced fumbles is more important stat for a reason.

well lebron obviously.

wiggins could ideally be the type of player that would be capable of this at some point.

ETA: damn tim duncan was kinda close tonight. assist and 2 steals away. im sure people get pretty close a lot, but that feels extra close since he had the blocks.

AD, Lebron, Noah, Marc Gasol, a few others. I know AD came close last year.

Davis' stat line for a game last season:
25 points
8 rebounds
6 steals
6 blocks
4 assists

I'd think Noah would have the best chance. Not sure if his stat lines over his career help that argument though.

He's a big and sooooooo scrappy.

I believe that Hakeem Olajuwon also holds the record for quadruple doubles.

Damn... AD was so close. He probably will get it at some point of his career. Could get it multiple times as well.

Nerlens Noel would be a candidate. Assists would be the hard one for him, but he does have a 5 assist game already.

Rondo possibly? He averages the points, reb, and ast. He's pretty long for a pg, so I could see him possibly getting the blocks one day.

ETA: closest he's been is 16pt 14ast 10reb 3blk 3stl.

When?

Game 1: 6points, 10 rebs, 0 assists, 0 steals, 3 blocks

Game 2: 14pts, 10rebs, 2assists, 1steal, 3blocks.

Game 3: 2pts, 5rebs, 3assists, 1steal, 1 block

Game 4: 10pts, 1reb, 5assists, 6steals, 1 block

Game 5: 4pts, 2rebs, 3assists, 0 steals, 1 block

The closest hes been was Game 4 vs Houston, where he got 3/5 categories. But only had 1 reb and 1 block.

And he got hurt again tonight...

He may have accidentally looked at a preseason game.

Oct. 23 vs. Detroit

8 pts 8 rbs 1 ast 5 stl 5 blk

regardless, he has the skill set to pull off a 5by5

Thought he was closer in Game 4. He had most of those numbers at halftime when I checked in on my fantasy team.

Marc was 1 steal away from having 4/5 tonight
