Omer Asik currently holding opponents to 38.9% shooting at the rim. ELITE RIM PROTECTOR.

When Omer Asik is on the floor the Pelicans post an 81.7% DREB%. Whoa.

I don't even care that much about the FTs I guess, but if this guy had decent hands, our frontcourt would be unstoppable.

He doesn't, so its still a great Frontcourt with AD/Asik/Ryno

It's just frustrating watching this dude with hands of stone and shoes of concrete.

But he does what we needed him to do very well.

Yeah that is always going to be a frustrating part of his game, but he protects the rim and rebounds at an elite level. That is worth something. Especially when we have AD and Ryno.

What he needs to do is develop a baby hook so that if he's not right under the basket he can just fling it up and in.

if asik had decent hands he'd be a max player
as it is, he does show some nice interior passing instincts

davis/asik/SF with a pulse TBD is what will put this team over the hump. for whatever reason i have this nagging fear than ryno will be shopped

His free throw stroke is not that bad. I don't see why it isn't around 70%.

There is a noticeable hitch in his FT shot. That's almost certainly from where the inconsistency comes.

This exactly what he was picked up for. If he scores double digits that is the icing on top. Again, there are enough scorers on this team.

He also holds the ball really far away from his body and has an awkward release point.

It's not surprising why he's not a good free throw shooter.

That little stop/stutter and release just ruins it. Makes me really admire Yao that much more. The guy is 7'6 and shoots 83% from the line

Yao had a soft jumper from anywhere inside the 3-point line. He had a nice fade-away shot, too. He was just a good shooter with nice touch.

Sucks that his career was cut so short.

Yup. Guards are thinking twice about driving to the rim, as well. Affecting their decision-making does not show up in his box score, but it shows in theirs.
