Albums vs Individual Songs

I used to buy particular songs that I liked to save money and skip songs I didn't care for. Now I find I like taking the whole album as a piece of art and really have a hard time not viewing the whole thing as a project.
Does anyone else feel this way? Or feel that it's all about singles?

I've always been an album guy, but singles (45s/7 Inch) were always fun to get for the b sides.

I skipped songs when I was in high school. My music tastes changed and most albums that I buy are great from beginning to end, so I don't usually skip songs.

Exactly this for me as well.

I used to buy albums for one song but I am definitely a complete album guy now and seek out great albums from start to finish exclusively.

Buy album, listen from start to finish.

Hold on, so you only buy albums that you already know you like?
Because certainly not every new album you listen to is great from beginning to end. That happens to me about 10% of the time, if I'm lucky.

I thought only teenage girls bought singles

Albums are just a collection of individual songs. When you listen to an album you're listening to individual songs.
When I listen to new music, I listen to it an album at a time. But let's be honest, most albums will include some songs you like and some songs you don't like. And why would I want to listen to songs I already know I don't like?
In sum:
1. Listen to album
2. Figure out which songs you like
3. Listen to the songs you like
If you listen to enough albums, at the end of the year you'll have a sizable playlist of only songs you like. This is a good thing.

Technically, yes....but that's not what we're talking about.
There are albums like Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Beatles) that sound better as a WHOLE than if you would just select certain songs at random and listen to them. The album has a theme.
Then you have albums like The Black Album (Metallica) that are filled with individual hits and you can just pick your favorites instead of listening to the whole thing.

Good albums make it hard to skip songs. Of course that doesn't mean you'll listen to the whole thing every time and you'll listen to particular songs more, but you will listen to it completely many times

I listen to most of my music when driving and I don't drive for very long periods of time a lot so I usually pick individual songs that I want to hear.

That's how it's supposed to be. Queen's "A Night at the Opera" should always be played from start to finish and not just Bohemian Rhapsody.

Are you trolling? Of course I buy albums that I already know I like. This isn't pre-2000.
I guess what I am saying, that in general, most of the artists that I like put out good albums and not just a good single here and there.
