A pleasant surprise. I can't confirm it, unfortunately, but the talking heads on multiple networks have been tossing the number around.

I'll never understand why 85% of them don't vote conservative. As a group, they're the poster child for the value, and benefit, of possessing a strong work ethic and self-discipline.

No shite. I have no idea why the number isn't 90%. Asians are all about hard work and are very conservative.

Asian countries have historically had communist leanings, it's not really a surprise.

Maybe they aren't all about it, especially the second generation who've been Americanized.

That's so wong.
In all seriousness, this isn't an overly challenging voting block for republicans. The downside is that turnout is often very low.
Anecdotal....but every Asian American I know seems to be hard working, at least fairly bright, careful consumers, and family oriented. A good conservative message should resonate there.

The southern baptists scare the isht out them. All of this talk about immigration doesn't help either.

A lot of younger Asians go to private universities up north and are taught taught by liberal professors.
Granted, I'm half-asian and I pretty much always vote conservative.

I've heard that Vietnamese people tend to be very conservative. Most of the Asians I've met have been Chinese, and not strongly invested in politics.

now, the second generation is probably more a mixture of left, right and middle than anything.
my sister (no pics) went from growing up conservative, to moving to NYC, and is now hardcore lib. heated political debates around the thanksgiving dinner table are a norm now for us.

The fact that 49% Asians voted Republican says alot. They tend to live in urban and northern areas plus the dominate ethnic group in Hawaii which is as blue as blue can get. The Republicans can pick up more of them IF the Republicans get off their behinds and do a better job con courting them. Some one like Rand Paul could do it.

Thanks for the insight, Egg.
A decent percentage of Vietnamese (and Asian?) people run small businesses. I think they want what a lot of us want. They want government to stop regulating everything to the hilt, get out of the way, and let the American people go about their business.
