Identify a candidate for 2016 that can win.
Gridlock is killing this country. We need someone in charge who can get things done.

frick no. Gridlock is awesome. "Getting things done" in 2009 gave us ACA.

No, lack of leadership gave us a terrible bill that is basically unimplementable. Adults in charge should be able to make good decisions for the country.
Gridlock is a cop-out. PERIOD. End of story.

1) frick. I want them to let ME make my own decisions
2) ADULTS? Boehner and McConnell are the "leaders".

If that's your opinion, then don't get pissy when ACA, NDAA, patriot act or other bullshite legislation gets passed.

Gridlock is our only hope because it keeps Washington from passing MORE STUPID shite

I agree on the gridlock canard.
With or without a good candidate in 2016, the Rs can't win unless they prove they are different than they have been.
I say they do that by focusing on winnable issues about which the other side doesn't have entrenched opposition and that increase personal freedom.

This is the problem I have with my "small government" friends. Government should be as small as possible, but there are still things that government needs to do, and it needs to be properly funded enough to do them well. Gridlock gives us broken unfunded programs and 3 month budget resolutions.
We need to accomplish some things as a federal government - establish new laws like redoing our tax system and figuing out how to fix/repeal O-care. Gridlock doesn't do that... gridlock just gives us more of the same.

We need a 2016 candidate. We also need voices/faces for the GOP.
They can be the same, but they don't have to be. Boehner and Mitch are not good voices for the GOP.

Gridlock is not bad. More gridlock would have prevented obamacare.
Eta, I see I'm late to the party.

But you have to avoid delivering full control to the left again, which enabled Obamacare. There is nothing wrong with analyzing and predicting the country's response to our action or inaction.

I realize that. But the op was lamenting gridlock.
Whatever the congress passes will be portrayed as republicans hate Latinos, the middle class and are giving breaks to evil corporations.

Incorrect. The GOP running good candidates and getting voters to turn out in 2008 would have prevented Obamacare.
Thoughts like yours are why too many people believe the GOP has no desire to be leaders, they just want to be obstructionists.

You realize gridlock takes two opposing sides, correct? It's not just republicans, unless you believe Obama.

Of course, gridlock occurs cause neither side wants to compromise. What I'm saying, essentially, is that gridlock (which is the fault of both parties) means O-care won't get repealed, the IRS won't get fixed, etc.

How? It was designed to work like this. Explain how it is "killing the country."

We should all be ecstatic that we have a lame duck president. Barring a bunch of illegal EOs, there is nothing better for America than neutered politicians.
I foresee no new wars, no trillion dollar stimuli, and no sweeping legislation for the next two years. Life is good (read: stable).
