Any of y'all use after market brake rotors?

My brakes are in desperate need of some love and I'm looking into something new for my truck to slow down these heavy tires, specifically Power Stop drilled and slotted? How much more performance do slotted and drilled rotors offer over your OEM stuff? Are they worth the price or what? Any other suggestions?

I've never used OEM rotors to replace stock rotors.

The drilled and slotted are really just going to do better at staying cooler under heavy use, I wouldn't expect any better performance on your first stop.

I suggest you use OEM brake pads and rotors only. That's what the vehicle was made to use. If you don't, you'll regret it soon afterward, and have to buy OEM to replace the stuff that doesn't work/perform/annoys you.

i've always found that oem is best for rotors...but if money is an issue, get the best deal you can on aftermarket.

Problem is that my tires are much bigger and heavier than stock, so I don't want to keep buying OEM and burning them out way sooner.

They look cool, but other than track use, I doubt you'd see a measurable change in a normal street application.
I don't know the Power Stop brand, TBH.

drilled and slotted stop slightly worse than OEM style rotors. They have less surface area to stop with. Their advantage is for racing. They cool down faster and greatly reduce brake fade. That is important when you are pounding the brakes every 5-10 seconds for long periods.

Wouldn't bother with the drilled and slotted stuff. Brake pads is where you'll see a difference. But more aggressive pads will probably burn through rotors quicker too.

Just put OEM stuff on my Tacoma. No need for any of the so-called "performance" slotted/drilled/cracked/whatever rotors as they don't off any improvement other than the butt dyno type. One thing is that a truck isn't a race car.

I've purchased the power stop slotted rotors for a small Saturn before as well as a minivan. Never had problems and they were far superior then the Pep Boys/Autozone rotors I was using.
But as other have mentioned, slotted and drilled doesn't equate to shorter stopping distances.

So you've added a significant amount of weight?
Now you're talking changing calipers and rotors (increase swept area) and of course, larger pads.
Maybe just try a set of carbon fiber pads?

Okay cool that's what I was wondering. I'm almost certain my rotors are done so i guess I'll take y'all's advice and go the OEM route with some nice ceramic pads.

GET the EBC slotted rotors and green pads.
Have em on my Tacoma for 30,000 miles so far. Zero brake fade, zero warpage.
Will buy again.DO NOT BUY THE SLOTTED AND DRILLED ROTORS!

My tires now are around 65lbs per which is a good bit more than my stock Pirellis. They're 10 ply 35s so I'm just looking for some more braking power if I can get it. Been getting some slight brake shimmy as well.

Have you talked to the shop that you got your after market wheels and tires from?
I've always purchased autozone brake stuff and put it on myself and have never had any problems.
Your parts dept from the dealership would also be a good place to start. They can at least give you an idea of what size/price and you can shop around after that.

Yep. But never had fade, warpage, etc., in my stockers, either. And that is with pulling a loaded uhaul up and down that terrian from Pensacola to Savannah to upstate NY to MD and to Savannah again. Never once any problem.

with heavier wheels brake fade and rotor warpage is a concern since it takes greater stopping forces to stop that rotational weight.
Slotted rotors ,the EBC ones i posted will allow the gases that buildup between the pads and rotor to escape. The gases are very hot.Hotter than any metal part on the braking system and is what causes fading and warpage.

I like those. My Taco hasn't gotten new brakes in the last 52,000 miles that I've owned her . My pads look good, but gathering ideas for when it's time to swap.
