Oregon is now the 3rd state to have voters say yes to legal recreational use of marijuana.

Interesting to see how many more follow in the next 10 years.

and yet Florida can't even legalize a non-euphoric version of marijuana for medical purposes?

Lots of old people in Florida with childhood memories of "Reefer Madness" nightmares.

A lot of Republicans, too. A lot of the big Retirement areas like Pinellas County and Sarasota voted in favor. I think only 1 coastal county voted against.

Here are the states with ballot measures in various stages of planning for 2016: AZ, CA, ME, MA, MS, MT, NV, WY

CA in a general election is a cinch. It's practically legal already. ME, MA, and NV are favorable. AZ and MT could be bellwethers as those are red states with libertarian streaks. If either of them fall in 2016 we'll start seeing some serious dominoes in the next few cycles with only Utah and the Deep South as holdouts by 2024.

MS and WY, bless their hearts, but no way.

Thought the same thing before it failed in Oregon previously.

The 2012 measure in OR had lots of groups coming out against it because of how poorly-written it was. It essentially allowed the local MMJ industry to form a cartel, put them in charge of their own regulations, and instituted some ridiculous corporate welfare provisions. It was written by some local yokels and got no backing from the national legalization lobby like the WA and CO initiatives did.

Compare the Oregonian's endorsement of No on 80 with Yes on 91 for a good breakdown.

California will happen soon. Obviously they already have a MJ industry with the big growers in NorCal/Shasta but its not full-blown legal yet.

All the New England and upper Northeast states are in play. I could see Nevada going as well. Florida will legalize it in 5 to 10 years imo. The solidly red Southern states will of course be last.

Don't Mexicans vote like social conservatives when it comes to CA propositions?
