Watching the series (pretty good so far) and they are literally the same character with the same cover

Except with how they actually became hero's

Batman doesn't kill.
Bruce Wayne and Ollie are inherently different people. Ollie is a socialist hippie who fights against "the man." He champions social issues. Bruce Wayne is definitely more conservative in his views about society.
Batman is a much darker character than Green Arrow from what I've seen. I haven't read any green arrow comics but from the shows and Justice League, he does not have near the baggage that Batman does.
I don't think the Batman movies have really done a good job of portraying this but some of the comics do: Is Batman himself insane? Is he the catalyst for what's happening in Gotham. I get none of that from Green Arrow.
Those are my thoughts. But I do agree CW is trying to play up the comparisons.

What you mean like their dad dying and them inheriting a ton of money to fund their superhero ness?
Or about being trained in some special skills away from civilization, and using those skills to try and fix their broken city?

Oliver didn't initially train to "save his city" he did it to survive.

Don't talk bad about arrow. It's the best show on TV.

while there are a lot of similarities, there are many more differences.
oliver still has a family, he doesnt want to be a loner, he has killed many times, he isnt as protective on his "arrow" secret identity, he doesnt avoid romantic situations, he heavily relies on his team rather than himself due to his lack of detective skills, i could go on.
on the surface they seem similar, but they are extremely different.

They both have a sense of moral entitlement which is at the core of the character.

More of an observation than talking bad, it's a good show

The CW didn't try to hide this. The original plan years ago WAS Batman, but then WB rebooted the movie franchise with Nolan.

The OP posts this like it's a negative, but I find it a much more enjoyable version of the "Batman story".

This makes all the difference in the world. While I've enjoyed the Nolan Batman movies, I really don't think I'd watch a TV series about him, but Arrow is great.
