Only 2 ppl in line.

We are next door in Maryland. Voted around 4PM. Nobody in line. A sign outside indicated that, as of 3PM, 400 some odd Dems had voted and only 53 or so Republicans had done so. We live in a very, very blue county. The poll workers looked immensely bored. The woman who checked me in was very interested in how 'nice' my name is.

I walked in thinking 40 minutes, walked straight to the booth, not a second wait...

I had the same thing happen to me-about my name. In LA.

I've never seen a sign outside a polling place indicating how many people had voted thus far. That's strange.

They do updates? I guess they get tired of being hounded by the Party Apparatchik? Or is it a State law?

I honestly don't know, I've seen this in past elections as well. I will ask a good friend of mine who was a precinct supervisor in a neighboring county.

Well I do know, that normally state law allows partisans to get an update on who's voted. It's public record.
My phone has stopped ringing since I voted.

what do you mean by 'partisans?' I know what the word means but I don't understand it in this context.

Party Operatives.
That's how they know who's voted, and the phone calls stop.
Thank God.

the posts outside the polling place were just numbers, no names or anything. I guess they get the 'who's voted' info from other records.

Interesting.
I guess that's for the media.

Or for the weak-of-heart Republican who takes a look at the numbers and says 'my vote won't make a difference' and walks away. :-( Not here! And our kid went with me and I showed him everything there is to see! Never too young to learn!
