Coming in to BR tomorrow for game & want to load up to bring back with me.

What are the top brands for each of these please in the general BR area(within 20-30 miles)

Don't mind going to LaPlace for either of the Jacobs places or anywhere else relatively close to BR. Ordered a bunch from Fontenot's in VP last year and it was great. Going to be using for gumbo's, jambalaya etc and just to stuff my face.

Any really great boudin now close to BR as well. Don't think Im going to have time to go west to Billy's etc.

Thanks in advance

Bergeron's smoked boudin is great.

If you ordered from Fontenot's in VP, try T-Boys in MAMOU, you won't be disappointed

Go to Krotz Springs and pick up all your desired goods at Kartchner's

I'd do Laplace for andouille , if I had time. Otherwise, I expect Bergeron's is the best call close to BR.

I'm a Jacob's man when it comes to andouille. Bergeron's has good smoked sausage. I don't cook woth a lot of tasso.

I like Best Stop's andouille for spice and Jacob's for smoke. I usually do a link of each when I make gumbo or jambalaya.

Ronnies for Boudin.

But pass on their sausage and Andouille

Ronnie's Boudin and Cracklinis by far the best regular and smoked boudin that you will get in the Baton Rouge area. For smoked meats and sausage, the best you'll find in the BR area is Bergeron's in Port Allen.

Andouille

I think I like Bailey's best in Laplace, but Jacob's and Wayne Jacobs Smokehouse are very good too. Don's Country Store in Reserve is also top notch. If you want it a little less smoky, Veron's in Lutcher is good.

Tasso

I like Bailey's here too, but it is very spicy, very smokey and a little on the dry side. If you want a "hammier" tasso, one of the others might be for you.

Boudin

Some place other than the NOLA area.

If you go to Kartchner's, pick up some smoked hocks. They're great for flavoring beans etc...

Best tasso is from Poche's in the Breaux Bridge area. Yeah, I know that's not where you asked about. Just sayin.

Wayne Jacobs Smokehouse is my go to for these. Great hogshead cheese also.

ETA: just picked up 5 pounds of smoked sausage for the tailgate gumbo.

Jacobs tastes bitter IMHO. Too bitter for gumbo

Jacobs for andouille. Good smoked sausage is plentiful around here and everyone seems to have their favorite.

Stop there and Don's in Reserve every trip back from New Orleans. Need to grab some hogshead cheese next time.
