What I Like

- The volume of 3 pt attempts per game in comparison to the past. I'd venture to say that shooting better in the past 2 would have seen this volume increase. Healthy, we will likely hover in the 22 3PA/game at this clip, especially if Jimmer can get out of Monty's Doghouse.

- The Big Man Rotation - Last night aside due to foul trouble, we are making sure 2 of our 3 quality bigs are on the floor at all times.

- The short leash on the "traditional" small forwards. Salmons played poorly in the first half of the first 2 games and didn't see the floor in the second.

What I Don't Like - Monty Ball Is Back Edition

- Seeing that zone at any point ever. I've yet to see a successful zone defense under Monty Williams at any point with him as head coach.

- Should be first. The fact this isn't first shows how much I HATE going zone. Anthony Davis needs to TOUCH THE BALL on offense. You have a talent as unique as this man. Use it for crying out loud. Why our offense runs from the outside-in instead of inside-out through Davis is beyond me. Kick-out opportunities, Davis being involved early, making them double, opposing big foul trouble...the list goes on.

- Ladies and gentlemen, hard hedging is officially BACK. REJOICE! After playing off the PnR the first game and having Davis/Asik combine for 14 blocks, Monty went back to his old bag of tricks.

- Quit helping Davis on defense for the love of god. He's got this. You don't see OKC crashing down on Ibaka's man (not saying Davis is on the level of Ibaka atm). The help often leads to wipe open 3s or cutters that eventually lead to shots at the rim as opposed to a big man having to take contested shots over Davis.

- Of course there are the usual suspects that have been rehashed over and over. Monty calling timeouts when your team has the momentum is by far the dumbest thing unique to this moron.

- If your team is supposed to be a reflection of it's coach, it's hard to argue with this team. Monty is FAR from a calming presence. When things are bad, our team looks hesitant and confused, starts bitching at officials, and lacks confidence. Sounds familiar?

Summary

I really liked what I saw from Monty in the first game. He looked a completely different coach. These last 2 games have looked so much like the old Monty that I'm already ready to move on. I just honestly think the man's basketball IQ is too low to be a head coach at this level. To top that off, his motivational tactics are non-existent, and his personality brings more harm than good to a game where mental toughness is half the battle.

TL:DR - Tavares is back. That new coach that we were supposed to see is dead.

Jimmer has never produced in the NBA. To expect him to produce now, or to blame Monty for not playing a guy who has proven to not get it done at this level is a joke.

He made the same argument regarding Rivers last year. Reminds me of a "most popular player is the backup QB" situation.

I'll entertain it.

It's about the sum of the parts, not the complete package. Jimmer provides a 2nd pure shooter to the bench units. Further, this comment is borderline moronic, as I'm not advocating giving Jimmer 25 MPG or taking minutes away from Jrue or Tyreke. I just want the guy to come off the bench and spark the offense a little by jacking up 3s.

But I'm glad that's the one tiny sentence boom found to derail that whole post.

BTW, GI, Roberts was hot garbage that got outplayed by Rivers post ASB last year by almost any advanced metric.

Roberts was also forced to lead the offense against first teams. If you truly believe Rivers is a better player, I have a bridge for sale.

Furthermore, Rivers is a 2. He doesn't have the handles to be a lead guard in long stretches.

Do you expect people to respond to every single statement you made? I don't see how he derailed your thread. He responded directly to a statement in the OP.

How does Jimmer do with corner 3s? Any way we can just get him to sit in the corner and jack up threes on kickouts?

Don't know and don't care. As much as the dude trolls, I think he made a fair comment in this thread.

No, it was an afterthought on a larger point. There was nothing constructive about the comment. "Jimmer sucks and always has." Thanks for the knowledge bomb boom, which somehow led to you blasting me for Rivers and "Jennings vs Harris - Basketball Edition".

I'm not rehashing Roberts vs Rivers. Luckily, we get to see them go head to head tonight.

Just a friendly observation. That dude occupies a very large space in your dome that's seems unhealthy for you.

Huh? I literally don't respond to any of his posts anymore, and I don't even read what he posts as long as it's not in a thread I took legitimate TL:DR time to create. I don't even bother downvoting him.

I have a question. Did Asik play too good of a first game and get our hopes too high for him offensively? The last two games he struggled to catch and has gone up very weakly for put backs.

Not if you saw him play before that game.

he's very clumsy offensively... Turns the ball over, misses point blank shots routinely, can't pass or catch the ball well. He's all defense.

Emotional investment in this team and years of Monty Williams wearing on your sanity does that to a man. You start caring about things like the integrity of the community board that keeps you sane through the Tavares era.

Yeah I had seen him play before but he was just doing everything so well in the first game that it got my hopes up more.

Consider the frontline of the opponent.
