Mississippi's only major sporting event has doubled the purse and attracted a nice field.

Notable players
David Toms
Padraig Harrington
John Daly
David Duval
Lee Janzen
Nick Watney
Trevor Immellman
Heath Slocum
Lucas Glover
Bo Van Pelt
Y.E. Yang
Boo Weekley

location
Jackson Country Club

TV
The Golf Channel Nov. 6 - 9

This will be my first PGA Golf Tourney to go to. Any suggestions? I think I'm gonna try & follow John Daly & maybe David Duval. I also heard Boo Weekley was fun to watch.

I didn't realize they moved it from Annandale. Also great to move it to the end of the calendar year, their fields got slaughtered by always being opposite a major or premium tourney.

I didn't realize Boo was still active either. Obviously watch Daly for entertainment.

The field is terrible, it's still opposite a bigger event and it's in the fall when guys take time off.

The main reason for the move was to avoid heat and rain.

The event has been moving from alternate event for the Open championship in the summer and for the WGC at this time of year.

It's a nice field for an alternate event. Way more names than I expected.. Id be there volunteering if I wasn't in California presenting research.

It's also Country Club of Jackson. Not Jackson CC.

No troll

This will likely be the worst field of the 14-15 season

Not with the conditions it was in earlier this summer. Though I guess their bentgrass greens would be a bit happier right now compared to bermuda greens.

the course is flat as hell. basically sits next to the pearl river--somewhat in a bottom. a lot of old oaks line fairways. it has a lot of back and forth holes next to each other. the tract of land is not very big so the course is pretty condensed. they've grown up the rough and tightened the fairways but scoring should still be extremely low.

Terrible field? We used to be happy to have one or two recognizable names. Now,

David Duval - Former #1 ranked golfer in the world.
John Daly - 2 time major champion
Lee Janzen - 2 time major champion
Lucas Glover - major champion
Padraige Harrington - 3 time major champion
Boo Weekley - 2008 Ryder Cup Winner

Just to name a few...

Recognizable names doesn't make a good field. The web has recognizable names, and this is basically a web finals event

It's about as good of a field as it ever is. Davis Love played last year though. They increased the purse this year. It will be interesting to see what the players think of the new venue. Annandale is a great course, and I think it is probably better suited for a pga event

You do not see those names at a Web.com event. When has Boo, John Daly, Janzen, etc. been in a Web.com event? I would be willing to bet not many Web.com events have three players with multiple majors.
