Offensive rankings: 11th in ypg, 8th in ppg, 4th in rushing, 18th in passing but has been MUCH better lately.

Defensive rankings: 3rd total D, 2nd pass D, 12th run D, 9th in INTs, 7th in forced fumbles (10), 2nd in fumbles recovered (9), 2nd in total takeaways (18), and 1st jn defensive touchdowns.

They struggled early on in the year, especially Tannehill. But these last 5weeks or so they have been pretty damn good. And Tannehill has taken that next step in his career. The last 5 weeks, his Passer Rating is 103, which would be 7th in the NFL and right behind Brady and ahead of Rivers.

Their OL is damn good. And they actually have some good playmakers and are playing really hard. Mike Wallace has always been a dangerous offensive weapon, but didn't seem to be playing that hard last year. Well he is this year. Wallace, Charles Clay, Jarvis Landry, Lama Miller, Rishard Matthews, etc are a pretty solid group of skill players.

And their D is straight up nasty and can dominate games. Cameron Wake might be the most underrated player in the NFL. He's an elite defensive player. Randy Starks, Jelani Jenkins, and Misi are damn good players as well. And their DBfield is 1 of the best in the NFL. Brent Grimes, Finnegan, Louis Delmas, Reshad Jones, and Jimmy Wilson are all damn good. Reshad Jones has been 1 of the best safeties in the NFL this year. And Grimes is a damn good CB as well.

So do you think they are a legit playoff team? I think so. It all depends on Tannehill and if he can keep playing at this level. Hes shown flashes of being really good in his career, but was very inconsistent. He seems to have fixed that and figured it out this year though. He's been very good these last few weeks. If he can stay at that level, yes they are legit. And if not, they still have a legit D and a good rushing attack.

Their D is. I think the jury is still out on Tannehill. They could be the most overlooked team this year.

They are they want to be. They clearly had yesterday's game vs. SD circled and played with extreme motivation.

They have some uneven performances - they were outgained like 200 yards to to 10 to Jacksonville last week at some point of the 2nd quarter. They got beat by double digits @ Buffalo. They also lost by 19 @ Kansas City.

They are clearly hot right now - Cameron Wake is a beast like you said.

I could see them winning in Indy or the North's winner. I can't see them winning in Denver. New England is a better team, but the Dolphins usually seem to play NE tough, even when they aren't that good of a team. So yeah, legit playoff team, but I don't think that they can win the SB.

You don't know what you'll get each week. High potential with the occasional stinker

hard to say right now. I can't figure out if they are really that good or if San Diego is in a flat spin.

there will be a few good teams left out of the playoffs this year in the AFC it looks like.

their defense is definitely legit.

but their offense will get a tough test against the Lions next week.

seems like the Dolphins have had their way with some average defenses lately. The Bears D, the Jags D, and the Chargers D.

if they go up to Detroit and play well against those guys that will be saying something.

just my opinion.

If Lamar Miller can stay healthy and if they can keep staying balanced on offense, they have a good chance to get the wildcard spot. They've got to beat Buffalo, though.

see I don't think their losses are that bad. Lost @ Buffalo(5-3 team), vs Kansas City (5-3 team), and went to the wire vs Green Bay and pretty much outplayed them.

And the Buffalo and Chiegs losses were early in the season. They are a different team right now and much better.

They have been damn good these last few weeks.

And I'm not saying they are a Super Bowl favorite or even a playoff winning team. I just think they have been playing so damn good ball and have been impressed by them recently.

SD has two very winnable games at home coming up (Oak, Rams) then one of the toughest stretches in the NFL:
@Ravens
Pats
Broncos
@SF
@KC

I could see them missing the playoffs after looking like a top 3 team in the NFL for much of the season's start.

Their defense, especially the pass rush is legit. I don't give much credence to the blowout yesterday because they SD's record in Miami is worse than terrible. But they look like they are heading in the right direction. Tannehill needs to show some consistency before I crown 'em.

Again, not saying I think they are Super Bowl contenders right now. I'm not crowning them or anything

For this week...This is one crazy NFL season. I mean would have thunk that BIG BEN would put up 6 td's two straight weeks against some pretty good "d"'s.

Their talent has been underrated the past few years. They have beat really good teams and not by accident. But like you said, consistency (especially at qb) hasn't been there, and they can't routinely beat the 6-10 teams that they should. Tannehill looks completely different this year though and the new GM Hickey has done a good job of filling out the roster. I'll call them legit if they beat the bills next week and win in New York later this year.

I like watching the Dolphins. They have a lot of talent. But Tannehill still cannot throw a lob pass. Doesn't matter if it's the deep ball or a 15 yard lob. Can't do it. That's a big deficiency in his game.

The most entertaining part about watching the Dolphins is that there's a chance that Mike Wallace may murder Tannehill at any given moment.
