Anyone else experiencing faster than normal battery drain since the 8.1 update?

I've tried just about everything to see if my battery is dying or if something is draining the battery?

I used to get 24 hours of net, some youtube and normal email. Now the sucker is dead in 12 hours or less.

Cortana is the last option. I disabled Cortana and I'll see how fast the battery drains.

Hope it isn't the battery because I want to upgrade to a phablet but Microsoft / Nokia really dropped the ball, not updating the 1520 this year.

If I have to buy a new phone, not sure it will be windows because I want a big screen and I am not buying a phone that is 1 year old without Qi and with only 16gb.

I really have no idea what Microsoft is doing. Why isn't the 930 available in the US yet? Windows Phone is an awesome OS but they're shooting themselves in the foot with this limited availability bullshite.

I understand the purchase and transition taking over Nokia takes some time, but they are bungling it at a time they can't afford to drop the ball.

The Nexus 6 is out and the Iphone 6+ along with the The Galaxy Note 4.

Where is the 1525?

If my battery dies, i'm not going to get a crap phone just to wait for the updated Windows Phablet.

Reviews of the Nexus 6 have been good and I might have to jump ship even though I really like the 8.1 update.

If it turns out to be cortana, then I can live without cortana until they update the phablet.

You can replace the battery. I did so in my first Windows phone.

I have a 635 and the battery works as long as I would expect. Generally charge it every 30-36 hours with moderate usage.

I've noticed faster battery drain as well. I'm not sure which update I'm on as I installed the dev preview of 8.1 months ago and have gotten several more updates than my wife (both 920s). I used to stream Pandora from my phone at work and leave with 50% battery at the end of the day, now without streaming my battery is at 50% or less.

I think Cortana is the culprit. I disabled it around noon and had the phone at 100%.

8 hours later, I am at 80% although I didn't use the phone much today.

Looks like something from 8.1 along with Cortana causes the phone to drain MUCH faster than before.

I cannot find the place anymore, but the 8.1 update had all kinds of stuff running in the background that I had previously disabled. So strange that I found it then, but can't now.

This is my understanding too. I don't think the issue is Cortana specifically.

Going into the battery control, it does appear that tons of stuff is running in the background even though before 8.1 I had about 4 things with the OK to run in the background.

I've disabled most of them, so I will see if I get a better battery life tomorrow.
