Thoughts on Gordon running with the 2nd unit?

BBS posted a column on this idea today, basically using the thought process that Gordon needs/wants the ball in his hands more. This allows him to run the 2nd unit off the bench rather than Jimmer or Rivers. Anderson becomes more productive with a more competent player running the offense, and you throw Jimmer/Babbit/Salmons in with the first unit based on matchups.

I don't like either of those guys in the starting lineup at all but at least it gives Gordon a shot to be more productive. Worth a shot IMO.

Thoughts?

I'm for it.. It's early in the season and we are 2 games in with this group. Going to be some games before we find that sweet spot.

Here are the questions about those 3, can he defend and knock down open jumpers?

Needs to happen. He's not getting many shots with the starting unit. Let him come off the bench and be the main scorer along with Ryno.

It's been two games. People need to chill.

It makes sense. There are too many ball handlers on the starting squad and we could use a spark on the second group outside of Ryno.

Or its the fact that he and Tyreke are both ball dominant guards and they can't both do that at the same time.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I like the idea

Tyreke is a better player anyway.

There are two articles in the local papers concerning EG and his lack of shots and shot opportunities. Unable to find a rhythm.

In all fairness, I think there's some validity to the point. Having him come off the bench is worth a try and the idea was floated earlier anyway. It would give him more opportunities and damned sure improve the second unit.

I agree in theory it should work well VOR, and I hope it happens as soon as tonight. However there is nothing in EG's history here that suggest he'd be open to the idea of becoming a bench player. I can easily see him sulking on the bench and lackadaisically running the twos. Hopefully he can see its in his and his team's best interest but I'll remain skeptical.

Dude always looks so worried when the ball comes to him. He needs to relax

I don't understand the purpose of not starting him. Maybe they limit his minutes or look for better natch ups, so he can kick start his game. But benching him is an insult. It won't make him better. Plus, as bad as he can be, he is still light years better than anyone on the bench.

If anyone moves to the bench, it has to be Tyreke. It makes more sense to split up him and Jrue to always have playmaking/creativity on the floor than it does to put EG on the bench so he can have the ball more. Any unit led by EG would lead the league in turnovers, I'm sure of it.

1. Trade Gordon for a SF
2. Play newly aquired SF in in starting lineup and move Reek to SG
3. ???
4. Profit

frick the bench. The bench is gonna suck this year, we're gonna have to learn to live with it. Let's just make our starting lineup that much better.

And most important we you know...trade Eric Gordon and I never have to watch that shithead play basketball ever again.

Absolutely not, if his time in New Orleans has taught us anything its that he's a different player starting than on the bench. And Dan, I'm not sure the bench has to just outright suck. By no means do I think they'll be spectacular, no, but they have the talent to be much better than they've played games one and two.

I think the 3 guard lineup wastes one of the guards. Rivers isn't a lead guard, but he is a solid complimentary 3 and D guard. If the egos involved could handle a bit of a role reversal, I think it'd be best for the team.

If the "new" starter plays limited minutes - then EG just ends up back playing with the starters.... What the hell is the point. Does it really matter if EG is the first sub out vs. the first sub in. This argument is dumb.

Especially the way minutes are managed.

Rivers, Fredette, Salmons have 12 MP together. That should never happen with a healthy roster and a competitive game. It looked good v Orlando because Anderson went supernova. Each guy can be useful, but each guy needs lots of help.

They can start the three guards, but someone needs to come out at the 6 minute mark so he can anchor the backcourt.

It's baffling how Monty realizes he needs at least one of the bigs on the court at all times, but isn't there with the guards
