I can agree with this. Although I take one or two steps higher to "I thought it was enjoyable."

The 1989 film blows this new shite out of the water. The original plot line where splinter's master was caught in a fatal love triangle with shredder (Oroku Saki) (sp?), was so much better. It just made more sense and the character development across the board was leagues better.

The foot clan in the original was much better as well. The new ones just look like rent-a-soldiers. In the original, the clan was made up of a bunch of "lost soul" types like Danny. And they were trained "ninjas." I had a hard time getting past the militarized look of the new ones.

April. Holy shite Meghan Fox is terrible. She's fun to look at for all of ten minutes but her acting is pure shite.

WHERE THE frick IS CASEY JONES????

I could go on, but I have to get ready for work.

I give the new one a solid 1/10 simply because it allowed me to fine tune some calibration stuff on my new TV while I watched it.

This movie was slightly better than awful. Glad they didn't make what they were planning in the beginning because that made me like this movie a bit better. Megan Fox needs to frick off and the turtles look stupid. Some nostalgia there, but not enough for me to even say I remotely liked this movie.

I have a custom built TMNT MAME cabinet, still have my squishy head action figures, and would rather watch the third original movie than this PoS. The originals are awesome. So yeah, you are wrong.

This has borderline ruined my morning...

Back to the clan thing... That concept was almost too perfect. You got this corrupt, warlord wannabe, ninja master who convinces all of the misspent youths of the city that he offers them a way out. It's free to him, and he amasses a large number of people. I vividly remember the scene where Danny goes to their hideout, and there are kids skating on a halfpipe, playing arcade games, smoking, drinking, etc. It seemed like the perfect escape for any teen. And all you had to do was learn how to kick some arse and steal some stuff. Seemed like a no-brainer to Danny and others as well.

The stark contrast was the way of Splinter and his turtles. You only fought when you had to. They did it the "right" way. In the end, Danny saw through the facade put up by Shredder and his goons. Which reminds me, remember this guy? Casy Jones knocked him out with a golf club...

Where was his equivalent in the new one? The Asian chick?? C'mon...

Another cool thing about the original: Did you know that the pizza man, Michael Sisti, was the guy that played Michelangelo?

I don't know what else to say. I hate what they did to the franchise with this new abortion of movie. frick you, Michael Bay.

The soundtrack was a hell of a lot better in the first one too.

Wasn't it done by his production company?

His style/fingerprints were all over it. I don't have a problem with it because I don't hate Michael Bay like most do...

I'm just saying, when his name is associated with it...directly or indirectly...you should probably know that you're going to see something that's over the top.

Voices sucked, Shredder was just too much, Splinter looked and sounded even worse. Will Arnett was awkward throughout with his comedic lines.

Wasn't terrible, but wasn't that good.

More fun facts about the original:

quote:

Josh Pais “Raphael” — Plays the passenger in the back of the cab when Raph leaps onto the cab’s hood.
Lief Tilden “Donatello” — Plays the foot messenger that meets April in the subway station.
David Forman “Leonardo” — Portrays a gang member at the warehouse when Casey Jones fights with Foot Clan leader Tatsu.
Michelan Sisti “Michelangelo” — Is the pizza delivery man who delivers the turtles pizza in the sewer.

quote:

1. Actor Josh Pais had anxiety about wearing his Raphael mask. The actor was the only one to provide his own character voice, but wasn’t a fan of wearing the turtle mask because of severe claustrophobia. Pais would immediately remove his mask after every cut.

Deleted scene: April and Danny pitch a comic book idea and get denied while the turtles listen in...

Casey Jones was a minor character in the cartoon and he was lame in the old movie.

Watch your tone. Casey was awesome in the movie. The famous, "Oops," scene with the trash compactor presumably killing shredder was hilarious. I reference it biweekly.

Watched the new film last week. Was not a fan and would not recommend it. A lot of the points were hit on in this thread.

With a 4 year old son, I have caught myself watching the new animated series and I really like it. Nick will be having an old school TMNT marathon next week and will definitely be sure my son watches those.

Literally couldn't be more false for me, on both accounts.

So they just bust out laughing as Raphael presumably falls to his death?

Weird.
