I know this might belong on the ticket exchange... but I'm wondering the process to get season tickets to Football... Obviously it's too late this year, but now that I've just moved back to Louisiana, I'm thinking about getting season tickets.

The LSUsports.net had some information, but they were talking about TAF and philanthropic program donation and points and all that shite..

What's the best way to make sure I can get tickets without donating $25,000?

I'll hang up now.

(admins, if this needs to be moved to tix board, no worries)

Buy them from someone on the ticket exchange next July/August, and each year thereafter while you keep making donations to TAF until you get enough status to get a set for yourself.

So I buy them from someone and they transfer the "account" or whatever to me and they're mine going forward?

eta: I guess I'm asking is it like student tickets where you get priority points for attending games? How many points do you get per game? If I buy them from someone, how will LSU know I'm accruing points? How many points is a good number to secure tickets of my own?

it will be very difficult without a good number of TAF points (which come from being a member of TAF for a long while)....your best bet is to join TAF to start building points and annually to join the waiting list for new tickets, as there are a limited number that are awarded through some kind of random drawing...

otherwise, just purchase some from a current season ticket holder...they are typically sold for whatever the ticketholder had to pay to get them...

They can't transfer the account unless you are a close relative... You would just get the tickets for that season... Season ticket holder maintains rights to postseason/away game tickets and gets associated TAF points...

No, doesn't work that way

Just donate $100 every year (you can donate $100 now and $100 in around February) and you'll have 6ish points.

You'll eventually get up there.

I know someone who got a pair of South Endzone tickets this year and he never donated..he just paid the $10 waiting list fee. Might of had something to do with 10k new seats though

So I'll just be building points on the side and buying tickets as if I was just going to the game? Is there no correlation between buying/attending a game with season tickets and priority points?

You accumulate points... Then buy your own tickets based on that rank...

This is what I was looking for... How many points is a respectable number to most likely get tickets...

Basically, I haven't had to deal with any of this as I was a student until I moved up to DC and just recently moved back... now it's back on my radar

Depends on the seats you're looking for

Upper deck? You could possibly get some next year.

No, they will remain in the ticket holder's name. I'm not sure how often they allow a transfer. I was lucky enough to do this with a friends tickets for 3 years after he moved to Michigan. During the Hallman years, they allowed him to transfer them to my name.

It will take lots of time with annual donations or a big donation to get tickets now, last year might have been the best shot with the new addition. I'm not sure how tough it will be now, but the TAF can answer your questions. Others may be able to tell you what it takes today.

Good luck.

there is no award of priority points for attending games...

depending on the seats, there is sometimes a very slight award of points depending on how much TAF "donation" is required to purchase the tickets...

the biggest bang for your buck is the 3 points that are awarded for your annual TAF membership...everything after that, whether donation to purchase tickets or donation for something else, only gets you a very small amount of points for your dollar in comparison...

I can't tell you how many points it takes... It changes every year anyway based on how many become available... But I do know you get double points for philanthropic donations... Those opportunities are listed on the TAF website... Tax deductible too...

I'm in no hurry to get them yet as I'm still in college and I still go to all the games anyway

Once I'm out of school I'll go on the waiting list, but I'm donating $100 every year until.

Also, the donating ranges are big to know

I think it's $100, $5000, $10000, etc

Take out the people who are ahead of you on the waiting list. I'm rewatching the sopranos and it seems like the best way to do things.

Or call up alleva and give him an offer he can't refuse.

if you are still at LSU, that is a different story...I think there is a "student membership" rate at TAF that is cheap as hell and gets you the same priority points as the regular membership...don't miss that opportunity to build some points now while you can do it for little money...

I've been a member of TAF for 5 years and all the SEZ pairs were gone when I got to choose. There were still singles but I wanted at least 2 so I got 4 together in the East Uppers.
