No red beans. No split pea soup.

What could I make with a bunch of leftover ham bits connected to a bone?

We always make a cheesey potato soup with leftover hambone.

Or you could give it to your dog.

Make a good hambone soup or cook it in a pot of mustard greens or cabbage.

I like the soup with potatoes and carrots. Good stuff.

Or just cover it in water by about an inch and a half, bring to a boil, then reduce to a very low simmer and let it go for a few hours, add a bit of water if necessary and make a good ham stock. Cool, freeze in ice cube trays, pop out and put in ziploc baggies. Then you have a homemade ham stock that will season many pots of beans and greens, not just one.
