Because, they argue, it's really a ruse to prevent blacks and minorities from voting, since many of them just aren't capable of acquiring an ID.

It may not meet your definition of an argument, but it's the truth and you damn well know it. It the subtle racism of lowered expectations.

Oh, then both sides do that and I'm not really interested in keeping a tally sheet to see which side does it more.

No, its not the argument that liberals are making. The argument isn't that blacks disproportionately aren't capable of acquiring an ID - its that they disproportionately in actuality don't have one. The reasons hardly matter at all when the goal is to reduce democrat votes, as several Republicans have readily admitted.

All the OP has done is fabricate a massive straw man.

I don't think you need a tally sheet. It's quite obvious.

Lol HELLO! The thread is, by definition, a presumption of character with no proof. One guy's opinion piece isn't proof of anything.

Exactly, because the republicans perceive, correctly, that most ILLEGAL votes are for democrats. Id admit the same thing

Conservatives would ask the question: if they don't have an ID, why don't they get one?

What is your answer to that question?

Yep. That is how I feel too.

If the GOP wins the Senate and keeps the House, nothing will change. And, even if they keep both and win the Presidency in 2016, nothing much will change. The PACE of our descent to obvlivion will be slowed a bit, but it won't be reversed. AND, we'll get arrogant Republicans and desperate Dems who now awaken to all of the things that they ignored the past 6-8 years when their people were in charge.

It is exhausting.

I don't know what conservatism or liberalism have to do with racism.

I bet when it comes time to sign up for food stamps, medicaid, and welfare they'll get an ID in a split second.

That's the title of the article I linked in the OP. I just copied and pasted his title. Substitute Dems and Repubs if you like.

I don't understand why it's so hard to get an ID. An ID is needed for a lot, if not most, things.

Then they need to get one just like everyone who has one has not had one at one point or another, and then got it.

What is so complicated about this. Voter ID is enforced everywhere else in the world to ensure honesty and fairness and unless you are assuming every other country hand delivers their citizens an ID then this argument is ridiculous.

Is there a real answer to this question?

I know people who identify on both sides who are racists. There have been both liberal and conservative politicians who are racist.

The premise of this thread is team sport politics, and it sucks.

Weird. The right uses the "everybody else" card when it's convenient

But they won't say that when it comes to healthcare, foreign policy, etc

Because conservatives ideologically support tradition over change, I think they are probably guilty of more racism, only because our ancestors were racist, and so were the traditions they formed.

This is a pretty stupid comment. I feel like you read this off of some cue card that told you what mindless cliche to say. Sorry.
