I don't disagree with Payton but he could have left it at one comment and not acted so butthurt about it. Though I do think he was pissed bc he mentioned 3 injuries.

Peter king is like the human centipede and his mouth is firmly attached to Goodell's arse. Florio tries to act all "badass" still but you can tell he's a company guy who ultimately toes the line as well.

It's not picking up any national steam because fans are only angry about Thursday games when it's THEIR team playing on Thursday. The rest of the time, they're just pysched to see NFL games on Thursday.

So ... we're basically pissed off that the scheduling produced a monster road game that the Saints dominated and actually won ?

Yeah ... can't have that shite ... better to go back to full weeks or even bye weeks before a road game ... because those turn out much better.

Just seems like a silly thing to be bitching about when the team just scored a monster win. Bitch about it later.

Sounds like you recovered better from playing on Sunday night then traveling and playing 4 days later than your teammates did.

Kudos.

People have been complaining about this for more than just yesterday and today. This isn't a new thing.

Exactly.

So why harp on it after a huge (and rare) road victory?

The league is aware that it is BS.

Because it is bullshite. The league pulled bullshite, and Payton is right to call them on it. Good for him. The fact that we battled through it has no bearing on the NFL pulling this crap. And we have no idea how the injuries from that game are going to turn out, which is the reason Payton is pissed.

Correct, they did play the Sunday night game, but the real point was both games were at home.

Because if he complained about it after a loss, everyone would call it an excuse.

But in this case, no one is questioning his agenda.

Fair enough ... but, he would have REALLY complained if the Saints had lost.

And everyone would have called it an excuse because that's what it would have been.

Kind of like Lebron ... the man getting paid $20MM a year alone to play basketball ... using the excuse of a new baby ... for being tired and playing like dog-crap in the first game of the season.

From the NFL press release describing the Bountygate punishments:

"The Saints and the individuals disciplined today are expected to participate in efforts led by the league office to develop programs that will instruct players and coaches at all levels of the game on the need for respect for the game and those who participate in it, on principles of fair play, safety and sportsmanship, and to ensure that bounties will not be part of football at any level."* (my italics)

Goodell is an empty suit elevated beyond his competence level.

So Payton is only doing what Goodell told him to do.
